Hello, I'm taking between 20mg and 30mg of Adderal XR (I Have three different meds: Adderal XR 15mg, and 20mg) and also the 10mg Salts). When I first started taking Adderal XR, I noticed a night and day difference. I was loaded with energy and motivation and could focus on any task. I cleaned up all the messes around the house, cleaned up the yard, etc. The initial side effects included dry mouth and loss of appetite. My sleep habits also improved. Before I took Adderal XR, I would get tired easily, and wanted to take a nap (Usually after work, or mid-day during the weekends). When I did take a nap, it usually meant I would be up late that night, or have trouble getting to sleep. When I was on Adderal XR, I was active the entire day so I was able to wait until 11 or 12pm to go to sleep and I fell asleep easily and had a good night sleep.
So everything was working out perfectly (With the exception of my dry-mouth and loss of appetite). I did deal with this by forcing myself to eat which was doable, and also keep drinking lots of fluids durring the day for my dry-mouth. I was fine dealing with the side effects.
Now, it's been about a month, and I've noticed that I get tired easily, I don't have ANY of the original energy I initially had, my appetite is partially back and I don't get as dry of a mouth. I think I can still focus on tasks better (My main reason for taking the med for my AD/HD), but it feels like the Adderal XR isn't as effective as it used to be. I'm going to see my doctor in two weeks and explain everything that I've talked about here, but I wanted to know what others have done about this, so I can get an idea what I might want to do about it. I probably can increase my dosage of Adderal XR, but if that will also wear off shortly, then it doesn't make sense to do that, but rather try a different medication.. Unless I'm just not taking enough Adderal XR..
My basic questions about Adderal XR are: Does it remain effective when you're at your "correct" dosage? Or will it always become less effective over time. I was so happy when I started taking Adderal XR and I wish it maintained it's effectivness.
One other note.. I started taking Wellburtin two weeks ago as I'm going to stop smoking. Around the same time I started taking Wellburtin, I noticed the Adderal XR seemed to start wearing off.. I'm wondering if the Wellburtin had anything to do with that, or if it's just a coincidence.. How long has Adderal XR remained totally effective initially for other people?
Thanks.
