I need feedback from users and parents of children on Strattera....My son's doctor wants him to stay on Strattera for at least another 2-4 weeks...he has been on a month now. He says that many quit too soon before the body adjusts to the medication. My son is tired a lot.
The good news is he sleeps better but I don't know if it is restful. Most posts say that they quit after a couple of weeks because they are tired...has anyone stayed on longer and seen things even out?

Hello,
I was on straterra for about a month and the side effects were tiredness and a problem with urinateing. My doc told me that because the side effects have not susided in this time frame it was time to switch. Which he has to Focalin. Which for me has no side to speak of and has worked wonders. I sleep very well at night. Focalin has been something like that some one switch on the light and I can finally have some sense of normal thinking and such. So in my opinion that if the sides haven't susided at all in the time frame that you child has been on it it's time for a honest talk with your doc. I hope that this has helped .....

Thanks...that is what I was planning on doing...by the way how old are you...the side effect you mentioned was mentioned by men but not by teens so far...urinating difficulties...maybe because they aren't comfortable talking about things
thanks

Last Hope,
I,m not a teenager by any stretch of the imagination but I like to think I am at times lol. I'm 40 years old and after some testing a couple of months ago I was diagnosed with adult ADHD. Me with says that explains alot for her. Oh well. Yeah I haven't heard of younger boy having those side about the urinating but you are right they do have alot more difficult time talking about those issues. But the tired ness never subsided. Well I hope that this helps keep me informed....

I had my son, 8yrs old, was on Straterra for about 4 months - the tiredness never went away - that was one of the few reasons we took him off.

My daughter has been on Strattera for almost 2 months and the tiredness has went away for her. She was very sleepy for the first 2 weeks or so, but after that she was fine.
Oh, sh'es 7 by the way.

My 8 year old son has been on Strattera for almost three months. He was very tired and nauseous the first week or two but then it subsided. It has been working well for us. Fingers are crossed.
