I am 32 and married with a 4 year old daughter. I have always been "scattered", "absent - minded" "disorganized", etc. My husband recently read the book Scattered by Gabor Mate, and realized that I probably have ADD. As a child, I was always losing things and my teachers wrote that I daydreamed on many a report card. Is there anyone else out there who would like to discuss their stories and experiences with me? I would love to talk to another adult with ADD!

Hey Jamesgm. I'm from League City. I am kimosabi's husband. We are trying to find a decent doc in the Houston area. Do you know of one? Thanks.

Hi, Jamesgm.
I didn't know my husband answered this! Were you diagnosed with ADD as a child? Are you on any medication? What about it is most awful to you?
Thank you for responding!

Hi well I have a husband and two children with adhd and yesterday I was diagnosed. Talk about a skattered house hold. No wonder! With dealing with my childrens adhd i have noticed several instances where i remimbered acting and doing the same things. So I started studing what happens to undiagnosed and untreated Adults with ADHD and I saw a map to myself. It feels really good to know there is help and hope and my family does not have to fall apart. The drepressions, the yelling, the fighting, the messes are all still there at this point but I feel better know there is a cause and help is available. BTW im 35 years old with a 35 year old husband, a 7 year old son, and a 5 year old son. I felt insuffiant and depressed. But i think i have finally got to the root cause, therefore hope excist again. Any comments or and if you are a mother with add and have add kids I would love a pen pall. :wave

Hey Kimosabi,

I suppose you can call it awful but I have viewed it differently. My 8 year old son was diagnosed this past year and when I read "Driven to Distraction" which by the way if your looking to know more about ADHD that book is a must!!I knew without a doubt that I am the person my son got ADHD from. I literally read a book about myself. It has not really been awful but a relief to know, exciting, scared, angry, happy and on and on. A mixture of emotions. We have both been on two different meds now he on Concerta and now on Stattera. Myself on Strattera and now on Adderal XR. We are both doing well still trying to get doses adjusted and such but it has made a big difference in my life just reading and learning about ADHD. You should talk to a physcologist and family doctor to be properly diagnosed to make sure that is truely what you have and find out what type of ADHD you have if you indeed have it and that it is not in conjunction with any other problems. Once your diagnosed then if I were you I would start medication I have noticed a difference in the few months I have been taking medication.
