My 7 year old son has recently been found hiding food that he does not want to eat or spitting it in the toilet and flushing it. He has had a gastrostomy tube for night time tube feedings for almost 5 years now. The diagnosis was "Failure to Thrive." When he was 15 months old he underwent open heart surgery to correct a congenital septal defect. I've heard that there is a correlation between eating disorders in children and heart defects at birth. Does it sound like my son may truly have an eating disorder? If anyone knows anything about this or has tips on how and where I should search the web it would be greatly appreciated!
