View Full Version : Balanced Translocation of Chromosome 5/16

I am 21 wks pregnant, and have just found out that our expected son has a translocation of chromosomes 5 & 16. This translocation is apparently balanced (nothing appears to have been lost or gained in the process) however, we are aware that there are some risks which exist due to the actual chromosome breakage. The breakpoints are as follows 5:q23 and 16:q24. We are also aware that our son may have some reproductive issues later in life, but aren't worrying about those just yet. Does anyone know more about this type of thing, or can anyone point me in the right direction as to what to expect?
Thanks,
Manon
