Turner Syndrome is basically the same as Klinfelter Syndrome, but Turner is with females and Klinefelter is with males. There are sites on the Internet that have links to information about Turner Syndrome. Check out Intersex and maybe that will bring up more information for you.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

my step-daughter was diagnosed with turner syndrome at the age of 15. obvious signs are that she is very short. she would have never have had a period if not for hormone pills. she will never have children. dr told us someone should have recognized it long before the age of 15. she took growth hormone shots every night for a couple of years. because of her age they didnt help. i read about this on the internet and some of the characteristics were short arms, vision problems, kidney disorders and more. she had none of these problems. she took it well, but didnt like the shots that obviously werent doing any good. she is now almost 20 and doesnt like to talk about it.

Turner's syndrome is very different from Klinefelter's syndrome. They are similar in that they are sex chromosome disorders, but that's about it. A male with Klinefelter's syndrome has an XXY karyotype...i.e. an extra X chromosome. A woman with Turner's syndrome has an XO karyotype....i.e. only one X chromosome.

Zuzu, how do you get the mods to okay a page for you?

If in doubt, always email the moderators: adminmod1@healthboards.com

Also check out the main page of Healthboards website. Go to http://www.healthboards.com/

On the left hand side of the page is a menu. If you scroll down far enough you'll see a list of Resource Links, one of which is the National Institutes of Health(NIH). Click on it. On this page look at the menu on the left and you'll see Medline Plus, which is a health database maintained by NIH's National Library of Medicine.
All these resources are made available to us on Healthboards' own website and in theory should be okay, but again, if in any doubt, it's always safest to double check with the Administrators before posting a link.

P.S. Was just thinking that even though Healthboards has made all these resources available to us, (i.e. to do our own reading and research) we have to be really careful about which links we're actually allowed to post on their public forum.

Best,
zuzu xx
