I'm contemplating going to the doctor to find out if I have RLS - what do you think? I have always thought that I just need a ton of sleep - whether I go to bed at 9pm or 1am, I would need to sleep 'til about 10am to feel rested. Over the past couple of years I find that I'm sleepy a lot during the day - between my early-morning job and my 2-year old daughter, I can't sleep 'til 10am anymore! No matter how early I try to go to sleep, I wake up still exhausted. I end up just dragging myself around - it's hard to get stuff done and to enjoy life. My husband often teases me by calling me "creepy-feet" because when I sit for a while, or lie down, I have to rub my feet against eachother and rub my legs together... he thinks it's really creepy, but I HAVE to do it! I can't stand it if I try to hold still. I can remember doing this ever since I was a small child. When I read "The Promise of Sleep" and the section on RLS, I thought that this might be my problem. But I don't get up to walk around a lot at night. It just takes me a long time to fall asleep sometimes, and we had to buy a king-sized bed so my hubby wouldn't have to feel my 'creepy-feeting'. I'd appreciate any opinions re: whether I should pursue the possibility of RLS... Thanks!

I have RLS. The sensation is almost an aching, crawling feeling in the calves of legs. The bottom of my feet and legs feel sooooo much better when I continue to find cool sheets, pillow. I have even on occasion, fixed an ice bag and kept between my feet. I have tried many different prescription remedies...but since I am on 3 pres meds already, I now try to use Tylenol PM to help with my insomnia and with achiness and restlessness in legs. Other than medication of some type, I don't think there is much help. RLS can go along with other sleep disorders I think. Good luck.

P>S> My husband has awakened me at night saying I look like I am swimming. We sleep separate most of the time now....due to his horrendous snoring and my RLS, we disturb each other too much.
