I've been taking lorcet for a rib injury due to a car accident. I've been taking one a day for a little over a month. I've tried not taking it and it causes RLS and PLMD symptoms. Last night, I had to "jerk" my whole entire upper body b/c I couldn't stand the feeling! Nothing helped so I took a lorcet and was able to sleep. Having a hard time trying to figure out if these are withdrawal symptoms or if the lack of lorcet somehow triggers the RLS and PLMD symtoms.
I've done some reading on the net and see that there are alot of over the counter medcines that actually make things worse. I picked up "stess formula" with iron vitamin and also a sleep aid that contains Doxylamine Succinate 25mg as the "active" ingredient. Will this make the symptoms worse? I really don't want to have to take another lorcet but I have to sleep to be able to function for work the next day....so I hope maybe the sleep aid will help. If not, I plan on trying to resist the lorcet on Friday....that way if I'm up all night, I can at least try to get some sleep on Saturday....

Opinions, facts, info much appreciated!!!!

PS
I've had RLs and PLMD symptoms before...very random, though. Used to be more in my legs as a kid and now it seems to be more in my arms and neck.....

If It was me , I'd go to the doc and get something specifically for your RLS, Instead of trying to figure out how other medicines will affect your RLS. Sounds like you definetly have it, so you may as well treat it. Just a thought! buck.

I HAVE HAD RLS FOR YEARS AND I FINALLY REALIZE THAT THE BEST WAY TO GET TO SLEEP WAS TO TAKE PRESCRIPTION PAIN MEDS LIKE LORTAB AND VICODIN. FOR SOME ODD REASON THEY CONTROL THE JERKING. MY DOCTOR HAS HAD ME ON DARVOCET FOR OVER TWO YEARS. IT IS A MILDER PAIN MED, WITH A LESSER ADDICTIVE QUALITIES. I SEE NO RESON IT WOULD HURT TO TAKE ONE LORTAB AT BEDTIME IF IT HELPS YOU SLEEP. YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO EVENTUALLY RAISE IT TO TWO TABLETS DUE TO TOLERANCE, BUT RLS IS A PROBLEM THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR AND SLEEP IS IMPORTANT. YOU MIGHT GET YOUR DOC TO PRESCRIBE AMBIEN AS A SLEEPING PILL.GOOD LUCK

I have had RLS for 1 1/2 years - since I had a spinal fusion. Also have peripheral neuropothy in left foot and ataxia in left leg. For RLS I take 1/2 of a 5mg Ambien, as the RLS mainly hits me after I go to bed. I am asleep in about 15 minutes, and assume the RLS goes away! For me it is better than taking pain meds and it works beautifully. The drug for Parkinson's is said to work well for RLS, but again, that is more drugs than I want. Good luck! ~Jan~

I have taken Lorazepam and its worked good to at least fall asleep but I feel terrible in the morning like I have not slept. I am schedule for a sleep study in October the earliest they could go and have a question if I have rls. I have always have crampings in my legs and thought it was from poor circulation and working out seemed to help but the last couple takes I was startly awaken like someone shook me it was like a jerk or trimmer. It frightened me but I do not remember of ever being awaken too often by jerks. Has any one else had rls but not really felt the jerks and wake up feeling like they never slept?

I've had RLS for about 2 years, but about 8 months ago
it worsened to everynight and sometimes all day to boot. I've tried numberous remedies without success
including sleeping pills and they just made it worse.
I finally went to my doctor, she prescribed a couple
different meds. The one that finally worked is called
sinemet 25/100 (it's used for parkinsons) Even though
at times I have RLS all day long, 1/2 tablet every
4 hrs if needed seems to relieve the problem. I've also started checking into herbal remedies via the net.
Good Luck, Sue
