Hello. I just recently realized that I have RLS.
Not diagnosed by a doctor yet. My fiance and I switch between sleeping in our bed and on the blow-up mattress in the living room. So sad. We cannot sleep together. I wake him up by tossing and turning and "dancing" as he puts it every night.
Is there anything I can try as a first line of defense against this? Natural supplements, vitamins, diet issues, excercise etc. before I try the prescription medication thing? I am willing to do what I need to, but I thought I'd try these things first.
Thank you.

I know how you feel...have been having sleeping problems from RLS for so many years and it can definitely test a relationship. Good luck on finding a non-prescription supplemnt that helps...but I have been searching for 30 years. Am now on the prescription medication Permax and it helps more than anything I have tried in all these years. I was on Darvon for years and it helped but I became addicted and now can take no narcotics. Also, invest in a good excercise bike and ride it vigorously when you get a bad attack.

I have been having good luck with magnets.
My problem is in my feet mostly and wear magnetic shoe inserts to bed, under socks.

These or similar magnetic products could be adapted (with some imagination) to use on various affected areas.

You might try it, Let me know

RLS what a pain, I've dealt with it for quite a while
but the last 6-8 months it's been an everyday occurance
sometimes all day long. After trying all the tradition
rememdies I finally went to my Doctor and after trying
a couple different meds we found one that works 100%
of the time (sinement 25/100) I've also been checking into herbal meds, here's a site below on natural RLS
remedies.
Good Luck, Sue

I have had RLS for as long as I can remember. Sinemet was a Godsend. However, I started to build a tolerance to it. To lower the tolerance I went to Permax. Both work great. Sinemet is a little easier to take and it works faster. Permax is a pain getting on it. You would have to start with low doses and build it up to where it is effective. Getting on it invloves a nausea, dryness in the mouth, stuffy sinuses, headaches, tiredness, etc. Don't hurry to get up to an effective dose. But once you are up to an effective dose, this is a solid medication as far as eliminating the symptoms so you can sleep. Good sleep hygiene helps as well. Also, if you are not able to fall asleep within fifteen minutes or so, get up and move around for a while. Stroke
