JUST THOUGHT I'D TELL MY HUSBANDS STORY. FOR TWO YEARS HE SUFFERED FROM WHAT THE DOCTORS CALLED RLS. AT FIRST HIS LEGS WOULD ONLY JUMP WHEN HE WAS ASLEEP, THEY THEY STARTED JUMPING WHEN HE SAT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. IT WASN'T UNTIL HIS LEFT LEG WENT NUMB AND HE WAS SEEN BY A NEUROLOGIST THAT WE FOUND OUT THAT HE REALLY HAD MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. STIFFNESS AND UNCONTROLLED MOVEMENT OF THE LEGS IS A SYMPTOM OF MS.

It does not sound to me like it is RLS. Is the "jumping" of the legs voluntary or involuntary? If it is involuntary (like a spasm) then it is doubtful that he has RLS. Also, numbness is not a likely sign of RLS. I would seek the opinion of a doctor or two before taking the advice of the people on these boards. No offense to anyone, but start with a professional diagnosis and a second opinion before one of us accidentally gives the wrong advice. Good luck. Stroke.

I have the same condition - restless leg and ms. The rls was first noticed by my wife at night and later progressed to uncomfortable urge to stretch or kick. If I sit still too long, like on aircraft, my legs will virtually kick by themselves. Also getting tight muscle feeling but not sure if this is what MS spasticity feels like.
