I'm kind of confused about my virginity. My boyfriend's penis was inside of my vagina for a little bit, enough that i felt the pain and later on i noticed that i bled (hymen broke). we didn't continue with it, for reasons linked to his medication (antibiotics) and what not. anyhow, we didn't really have sex, well, not all of the way. to him, he feels like a virgin still. but i'm not sure about myself. any thoughts?

You are no longer a virgin once his penis has penetrated you regardless of how long it was inside.

Orgasm and ejaculation dont have to occur for sex to happen.
From my dictionary by by keyboard. The Merriam Webster Dictionary
Sexual intercourse: Intercourse betweena male and a female in which the penis is inserted into the vagina.
Virgin: a person who has not had sexual intercourse.
Any doctor will tell you that she is no longer a virgin because a penis has been in her. Time, movement, orgasm, and ejaculation arent counted in when deciding this.
From a dictionary site.
virgin: A person who has not experienced sexual intercourse.
Sexual intercourse: Coitus between humans.
Sexual union between humans involving genital contact other than vaginal penetration by the penis.
Coitus:Sexual union between a male and a female involving insertion of the penis into the vagina.
I could go on and on with various dictionary sites but I think I put enough up to prove the point.
No you are no longer a virgin.

AMEN!!! I was unable to have complete intercourse with my first real sexual experience but believe my I was not a virgin after this one attempt and that was years ago. The definition of virgin has certainly not changed over the years.

This method, called the withdrawal method, AKA pulling out, AKA coitus interruptus, is a totally ineffective method of pregnancy prevention. After a guy is aroused, and during sexual activity, pre-ejaculatory fluid, AKA precum, is secreted from the urethra. The purpose of this fluid is to neutralize the urethra so the sperm can survive. This fluid contains - you guessed it - SPERM! And as we all know, sperm can very well impregnate a woman. While the amount of sperm is considerably less than released during ejaculation, there is still a significant chance of pregnancy. Consider this: An average of 300 million sperm are released during ejaculation. If one tenth of that amount is released in the precum, that's still 30 million sperm, and it takes only ONE to get pregnant, so wrap it up boys! Another interesting fact: A girl who doesn't use protection during sex has a 90% chance of getting pregnant during the first year.
The highest number of sperm are in the first drops of ejaculate. Pre-ejaculate (also known as precum) can carry thousands of active sperm. The pull out method has a high failure rate because of this. Even a few drops of semen close to your vagina can result in pregnancy. The sperm will travel with your natural cervical mucous quickly swimming to reach an egg.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMM guess these refernces I have must be wrong or is it the other way around.......these references are right and the other poster is wrong?

it seems to me that nobody is really answering her question. she's not asking for an argument over literal definitions, guys, she just wants to know whether or not it's ok to say "i'm not a virgin" or "i am a virgin." personally i agree with those that say that virginity is lost when the penis is inside the vagina, but that doesn't mean the other definition is "WROOONNNNGGGG DIIIIEEE" ..:ahem:
torifan, as you can see the word "virgin" is defined in a few different ways, so it is pretty much open to interpretation at this point. if you still consider yourself a virgin, it's ok to consider yourself a virgin. i believe that it's a mental thing almost as much as a physical thing.
*however,* if somebody asks you about your virginity, for example if you were to have sex with said person, and they want to know if there is a chance of contracting an std, then you might want to explain the situation, just in case. but i think you can still feel free to make that decision for yourself.

Being a virgin is NOT a mental thing.. if you have had sex you cant say your a virgin. if that was the case i would of told my DH i was when we met..if there is pennatration you are not a virgin.. only this person knows if there was pennatration or not. if there was.. that is sex even if it was for a few seconds. the question was answered several time..

Orion, the reason coitus interruptus isn't an effective method of pregnancy IS because there's sperm in the pre-ejaculate, not because men are incompetent.
It only takes one to get a girl pregnant. Biology 30. Not hard.
Phone up your friendly neighborhood gynaecologist and ask him if it's possible. It is.

1)first off ure hymen broke due to penetration from a penis
2)u had sexual intercouse...and for all u people that are getting all technical to have sex the male does not have to ejaculate in the female or even ejaculate! lots of guys pulls out and lots of them don't cum before theiir girls just can't take anymore....but they did have sex.
3)sex is sex forget those definitions they were giving you...he put it in he moved in and out...sex .. u guys jsut didn't orgasm..which u probably won't ure first couple of times anyway
hope this helps...reply

and another thing to that guy who says that u can't get pregnant without having sex. U can! I hate to break it to you but u can get pregnant without having sex. It only takes one sperm cell and one egg to create a life. Granted that someones chances of that happening are very very very slim, but it does happen to people and has happened to people. Precum can get u pregnant also believe it or not...the chances of that are slim also but can happen...bc not all sperm are dead that are in the precum. depends on when the males last ejaculation occured. Oh and one more thing...U can also get pregnant on ure period! Ask any ob/gyn and they will say the same thing...it doesn't happen often but it can happen and has happened. I know this bc my mother is an ob/gyn..so fight me..i think not
