Angel8 09-06-2003, 07:37 PM ..................... Sponsor Jennita 09-07-2003, 03:19 PM It's good of you to warn people here of such a possibility since doctors usually don't. Thanks. Angel8 09-08-2003, 11:21 PM YOUR WELCOME JENNITA! dice 09-09-2003, 02:42 AM I remember hearing about a boy in Florida or Texas who had a heart attack and died because of the stimulate he was urged to take by his school. The parents abided and now feel such grief. You are a lucky one Mustang to have survived such a devastation. Thank you for informing us and reminding us that these pills are dangerous. Angel8 09-10-2003, 10:10 PM .................... dice 09-11-2003, 01:40 AM I must tell you that I have decreased my son's dose to 10 mg from 20 mg of Dexadrine, because I fear for his development. After reading other peoples comments on this message board, I am convinced that we can do better on our own. I felt bullied into starting Ritalin in the first place when my son was 7 years old. Then I stopped that 6 months later. But then was encouraged to try Adderall a few months after that. But I stopped that one too, only to be prescibed Ritalin 8 months later. Then my son was switched to Dexedrine 6 months after that. He has been on Dexedrine for 6 months now. It has been the best medication yet for him, but its still speed, and that's not ok with me. So I decided to try this beCalm'd stuff and of course flax seed oil for the omega 3 fatty acids. I also will explore getting my son tested fo allergies. I tell you, my son's teachers do not look impressed with my decision to go drug-free. I may have to home school him soon. He's in grade 5. I feel I'm home schooling him as it is but at night school! And that's with the meds. Well all I can say is, "wish him luck". jkil22 09-11-2003, 12:03 PM Different people act different ways to different Meds. I have blood pressure so I don't take my DEXEDRINE often since it raises some (not all) peoples BP. I'm trying wellbutrin SR it's not a stimulate but a safe anti-depressent (I have no depression issues) but it's shown to help some people with ADHD (make take 4 weeks to work, well see). DEXEDRINE is can be a lifesaver for some people, I would just closely regulate it's usage, esp. in the teen years where abuse is much more likely. |
