I will have been on the pill (loestrin 20)for a month on saturday, the leaflet with the prescription said that i should wait a month before using only the pill as contraception. I had sex today (wednesday) and i've only been taking it for 25 days. Do you think/know if they say a month to be on the safe side or whether it is the actual minimum time before it actually works as contraception? Just wondering how likely it is that i'm pegnant! thanks in advance! x

Well, you are actully supposed to be on BC for a couple of months before you use it as conterception. (so your body can get used to it and what not) Well it is possible that you can become pregnant, but the most likely time is 14days in to your cycle. (does that make any since?) Well i hope that helps a little..

That may be untrue, my EX took her pill for a week before we started having sex, the information that came with her pills, said that it is effective after the first day of taking the pill. I am not a daddy so it worked :-). Doesn't mean you should start having sex after a dayo n the pill, but 25 days seems enough to have your body take effect to them. And BC pills are hormones, your body obeys them, your body doesn't have to get used to different levels of hormones, your hormones change all the time.

Birth Controls can make your period alot more contolled and light, and if your on a 21 day cycle of pills, you stop for 7 days while you on your period, and then you continue back on the pills. The 7 extra pills in the 28 cycle are sugar pills, so you stay on a continous cycle. As long as you stay on oyur pills, you probably have slim chance of getting your period, for that you jsut had your period, and a new egg has not yet been released. Also the Birth Control also increases the cerivcal muscus, to help stop sperm for entering through the cervix opening, but I'm not sure how the muscus ammount is effected while your on your period.

I think you should be alright. I've been takin the pill for aobut a m onth and a half, and i've had sex without usin a condom... i shoudl be starting my period in about 2 weeks, so we'll see how that goes. But, you can start having sex after your first week, but they push for waiting a month, just to make sure the pill is working with your body. Don't worry about it. You should be fine.

It all depends on when you started taking the pill. If you started the first pack on the Sunday during your period you should only have to wait a week. If you started it on a Sunday when you weren't having your period the time period is one month.

They say you should take it a month before having sex without other protection, and if you miss a pill after this month, they say your safe after 7 days.
