I just found this board while surfing for insurance companies that will cover prescriptions for Strattera. It was nice to find a place full of people that share my...world? I realized I had ADD in my second year of grad. school (psychology) but didn't want to take meds. Since then I have become the VP of an architectural firm and had three children. On the business end I have more than I can possibly deal with and my children are twins (age 2 today) and a three-week-old (all boys). I finally decided to try Strattera, you know how hard it is to stay focused on one task, with so much going on it is really hard to get everything done during the day. So I have a question. Do you know of any insurance companies with prescription plans that cover Strattera? I am currently covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield, who does not acknowledge ADD/ADHD as a real disorder. Other than that, I would encourage and appreciate any advice or comment anyone has. Thanks.

Hi. Regence covers strattera with a small out of pocket co pay. There are also medicine programs you can apply to to see if you can get your meds at a discount or even for free.

We have BCBS and they paid for my son's Strattera medication. There were different plans, we had the more expensive BCBS plan. They should pay for it. I've never had them reject or not pay for any meds. Might try calling them?

I too, have Blue Cross Blue Shield and they cover most of the cost. The co-pay is still pricey though.

I have a PPO plan with Humana and they have covered all of the different ADD/ADHD meds. I just have a four teir co-pay plan and the Straterra was a level 3.

I have a whole bottle of 30 you can have for free! That stuff is horrible. What a waste of money....

I have AdvancePCS (group plan) and they cover Strattera in their second tier (out of three) costing around $18/mo.

You may want to contact a higher official at your BC/BS to look into this for you. My son has ADHD and we are covered by BC/BS. They have been great from day one. My son isn't currently taking any meds, but when he was, BC/BS covered the biggest part of it and they also covered some counseling sessions when we were in the process of the initial screening and diagnosing of ADHD. Best of luck to you.
