Anyone who has had urethritis, NGU, chlamydia...can you please share what the symptoms were like?
Was there a discharge (what color)? How bad was the burning while peeing? Did the burning get worse throughout the day? How long did the infection take to clear? Were you ever given a definite diagnosis?

HI, I have had a weird burning sensation while urinating for a few years now. Sometimes it burns slightly, sometimes it doesnt--i think i may just be used to it. I noticed that if i hold it in for a long time, when i go the urine is clear & it rarely burns. I went to two dr's, & a urologist..urologist gave me some pills but they didnt work..he said i might have to come back so they can "have a look" Into the urethra, which he said hurts a bit...i have been delaying it for obvious reasons. i came up negative for gonorhea & clymidia...he said it might be urethritis...what else can i do? does that procedure hurt like hell?

No it shouldn't hurt like hell as they will use a numbing jell called Lidocaine Jelly when they do the cystoscopy. Put your fears aside and get this done if the doc feels you need it. Your health is too important not to get the proper tests done.

when you say procedure, do you mean a surgical-type procedure in the hospital? or is it a private,informal thing that the urologist can do right in the office.thanks

I think I have this as well. I have had a pain while urinating for ages now, and I could never work out why. I've been to the docs, and a urologist, but they have never suggested that it might be this. However I looked up the net, and I think that this might be it. The symptoms seem to be right.
IT apparently can be cause from infection, or even caused by an allergy, or repeated squeezing or milking of the penis.
I'm hoping that this is what has been causing all my problems, and I can get back to normal soon. Cheers for bringing this topic up!

Went up to my docs today, with a print out of this topic and a little research from the net. I have two test to perform: A urine sample and the swab that gets inserted into the penis. I know that I have to take the urine sample 1st thing in the morning, but is there a recommended time to do the swab test?

make sure you follow instructions for the test swab.they tell you not to urinate for certain number of hours-i couldn't hold it anymore and went. the doctor couldn't get a sufficient sample the first time he put it in and had to use an even larger, longer swab..................

I get burning when I urinate - but all urine tests came back all clear! I even made them do it twice!
So why wont it go away? It just seems to happen sometimes...
