View Full Version : Addiction and the holidays..

Well, so far so good - I am still clean and sober and we are well into the holiday season. In two weeks I will have 90 days!!!
Amazing!!

I find the holidays to be hard - watching everyone party and drink champagne or hot spiced /spiked cider and mingle and laugh and socialize -(and of course those who sneak off to the bathroom or another room to get high....)I miss my kids and I am as usual, broke at Christmas!
BUT>>>> Know what? I walk through the stores or down the street or in a restaurant and look at the lights and the decorations, and spend time working in my creativity with my own home. Decorating th tree. Taking a walk and it's crisp and cold and beautiful out. AND... I LOVE being clean and sober!! I appreciate all the little things (hot spiced NON-spiked cider in hand) that escaped me before. My family is proud of me and the man who loves he is happy and hopeful and so am I. I am not thinking about how I am going to cover up, lie or be someone I'm not today. I might just be......happy. Maybe.

If anyone is struggling this season - I advise you ask for help, talk to someone, and just keep trying. It is so very worth it.
