I am addicted to Vicodin and my doc is giving me an endoscopic exam tomorrow. They want to give me demerol before and a valium drip during the exam. Should I lay off the vikes for a day and is it dangerous for a vike addict to have the demerol and valium? Any knowledgeable answers will be appreciated. Thanks.

The safest way to go about this is to be honest with your doctor. I worked for a number of years for a surgeon and it is dangerous for your to mix all of these drugs-your doctor will treat the situation with confidentiality and you may even get the help you need out of it.
