Psychological Needs

Addictions treat psychological needs. We must determine what our psychologicals needs are to be able to treat addictions. It is important to replace as addiction that treats a psychological need with something else that still provides a reward.A theme refers to a psychological need.An addiction is the method used to meet that need.Person's won't repeat what doesn't feel good to them.Themes develop from lack of fulfillment. We all have themes, but many of us find heathy ways to meet those needs.Others not finding heathy ways to satisfy those needs, develop the themes through the years of thoughts and feelings about themsselfs and their interactions with ours.Since people are what they think of themselves, these themes influence the way they behave. And individuals may have more than one theme operating at one time.Neurochemistry affects themes in two ways.First,an out of balance brain triggers themes. The best you can feel is equal to your worst theme.Thats is,if brain chemicals are depressed, persons begain to feel the major theme surface.Once it comes to level of consciousness, they respond to it by behaving in a certain way.The more out of balance the brain, the more often the theme resurfaces. To recover (I feel)persons need to concentrate on the cause of the addictions and NOT on the habit. There are many reasons I know, just a thought here.
