I have had a long history of UTIs, I have been tested back and forth - also came back negative for Chlamydia 3 years ago. Now I am with a new boyfriend (and of course we've had ourselves tested as far as HIV was concerned), and after severe pain I was tested positive for Chlamydia. We both took Doxycycline, but only after consulting the internet did I learn that it was actually an STD!
My question is now the following: has anybody had any experience with this disease?
Is it really possible to carry the bacteria without having any symptoms (I read somewhere that it is actually called "The silent epidemic")? Is it sure that I got it from him, or is there any other way to catch the bacteria?
Any help, tips, suggestions would be greatly apprechiated!
With many thanks,
Sophie

Yes, it is possible to carry the bactery for a long time and not have any symptoms.

It is always sexually transmitted, so you probably got it from him.

Hope this helps,
Francis.

Well, you said you were tested three years ago. You DID NOT say if you were sexually inactive for the three years since.
If you were, your present boyfriend is the culprit. He could have been carrying it for years.
If you were not, then your guess is as good as ours.
This all goes to prove what we already know.

I've had chlamydia 3 times in the '80's when it really first came 'on the scene'. The interesting thing about it is that on women there are few if any symptoms, and even on a guy, if you do not know what to look for, you will carry it for years without knowing it.
When I first got it I was in high school...the doctor told me it was a 'sexual nuisance' and that I could get rid of it easily. He gave me a 7 day prescription and it was gone. The only good thing about that experience was it enlightened me to what my symptoms could be.
In the next 5 years I got it twice more from different women, both times KNOWING (the next morning) that I had SOMETHING. We would have sex in the evening and again the next morning and at ejaculation there would be a slight burning sensation. The next day there would be a slight yellow discharge...just enough to show on the underwear. The next day I would head to the doctor. I would inform the ladies that they had something and should see the doctor and both times it was 'flung back at me'..."Oh you gave me something" etc.
Most people do not know that they have this STD...protect yourself with a condom.
