I just discovered 1 month ago that I have HPV. I feel like my life as I knew it has come to an end. Im using Aldara to get rid of the warts. Im just trying to figure out when is the right time to tell someone you have an STD and what your experances have been with their reaction.

A Very Sad Guy.

Hi. You sound depressed just like me. We're in the same boat. I found out I had hpv about a month ago to. I also think about how am I going to be able tell the next person I get involved with? I feel like no one would want date me if they knew. I feel really ugly as this point. I feel like in the future when I want to start dating again, I should wear a big sign that says, "If you have hpv like me, I'm the girl for you!" When I go to the doctor's office I feel like a walking big wart. It sucks! But you know what? Searching through the internet for hpv clubs, there's actually happy situations. Real experiences from people who have hpv like us. There are some people that are dating again and they thought dating would be over for them. Others have gotten married with understanding spouses. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN! I know this is hard. It takes time to deal with it. But believe it or not it's not the end of the world. Life goes on and so does everyone's else. I've come to accept the virus. Having the virus is not so bad. It's just that when the warts are present is when I absolutely can't stand it. You should go to yahoo clubs and go under hpv club. It's similar to this but it's a support club for people like us. You'll feel better after reading other people's situations and experiences. Just remember, you're not alone. HANG IN THERE!

Hey! I'm glad that I can kinda cheer you up in a way. You're lucky! At least you have a date or been on a date since you know about this thing. I don't want to deal with it just yet. I don't want to stress myself out right now. If you don't mind keep me up dated on your relationship. I want to know from a guy's point of view and the way you might break it to her. I just might have to steal your lines in the future! Feel free to email me sometimes at madisonk44@yahoo.com. It's nice to talk to someone and not have to wait for someone to dig for your posting to be noticed and replied.
GOOD LUCK YOURSELF! Maybe we'll meet again at our hpv club! Hope to hear from you soon. Madison

Are you sure you have HPV (the actual Wart type that is) - I thought the same until I had them biopsied last week (read my message below) - I know now, although I do have HPV, I don't have the kind that cause Warts - it is something else called Molluscum Contagiosum???
Well, I have the same problem, I haven't been with anyone since I found out I had HPV. I have met a guy and will be seeing him again soon, I wonder how I will tell him. I do know it doesn't affect guys as bad as it does girls (HPV - not the Wart type that is).
I suppose the first thing I am going to ask is if they have ever had an STD check, and I am sure I will be surprised - I will most probably find someone with the same thing - if you have read much about it, you will find that more often than not - they will have the same thing. The reason for this is disrespectful people don't give a S*&^ about others and don't care about spreading their diseases. I suppose you can never trust anyone can you???

Hi, more that 50% of woman have HPV. Don't despair. You can get them cauterized or cut out, they seldom come back. Get more info on the subject, you'll rest assure.

Good luck

Dear Happy, I too have Hpv, I have had it now for 4 years. I too, now have the burden of wondering how will I tell someone I have this. I was in a relationship for 4 years with someone who had it also. so it was like a security blanket. Now we are no longer together, and I have no idea how to tell someone I have this. And I can say I understand what you are going through. Life is hard, even more harder when you have something hanging over you like this std. If you find some good advice please feel free to pass it along. I too will pass it along to you if i recieve some. Sunny26

MamaBear, yes you can have HPV without warts. There are several types that cause the warts but there are many others that don't. The ones that don't are more dangerous (i.e. cancer). There is no test for HPV, only tests like PAP smears which pick up changes caused by HPV. Bottom line, you don't know that you have HPV until there is some reaction by your body.

Read this link; it is very informative.

I'm assuming you read the link I posted. It pretty much spells it out which ones are more dangerous than others. I'll point out the relevant section for you.

What are low- and high-risk HPV types?

The genital HPV types can be divided into two broad groups, low-risk and high-risk, depending upon their association (or lack of association) with cancers of the lower genital tract.

Low-risk HPV types (6, 11, 42, 43, 44) are virtually never found in cancers.

High-risk HPV types (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58) have been identified in cancers of the cervix, vagina, vulva, anus, and penis, and are also found in non-cancerous growths in these areas.

The most common types detected in genital warts are HPV 6 and 11.

The most common HPV type detected in both normal women and in women with cervical cancer is HPV 16.

The majority of cervical cancers (80%) are caused by just four HPV types (16, 18, 31, 45).

I too had Moluscum Contagiosun once. The medical industry will tell you that there is no way to get rid of it. The truth is there is no way for THEM to get rid of it. I have beaten MC for good after doing exhaustive research into the subject. I will briefly tell you what I used. There are 3 easy to get substances which I used to combat and defeat MC. They are as follows. Colloidal Silver (500 PPM). You can find it in most nutrition store.. a 2 ounce bottle should be enough. I took orally every day.. 2 drops in every drink that I had during the day for 2 months. And I also applied it directly to the entire affected area.
Next is Oil of Oregano. NO NOT THE SAME OREGANO YOU BUY IN THE SUPERMARET!!! Just for the record.. the "oregano" they sell in supermarkets and put on your pizzas is NOT really oregano at all.. it's Mexican Sage. They do this becuase real oregano is much too expensive to use in those quantities on food. Genuine wild oregano is VERY medicinal and VERY anti-fungal. Apply a drop of it to each Molloscum once to several times per day. It is easy to find, most nutrition stores carry it. A once ounce bottle is enough.
3rd ingrediant you will need is Gentian Violet, 2% topical solution. You will be applying this directly also. It can be found in many but not all pharmacy/drug stores. You may want to call ahead to see which ones in your area carry it.

Ok here is how you will use the 3 ingrediants.

If you have a fully flowered Molluscum (with the white cheese crown) then carefull pop it so that the cheesy matter is expelled. Be carefull to dispose of the cheesy matter so that it doesn't touch other areas as it can spread the molluscum where it touches. To avoid further spreading I first apply colloidal silver to the entire area of skin I will be treating. Immediately after you have expelled the cheesy matter apply a small drop of oil of oregano to the tip eruption... so that the oil of oregano actually fills the hole left when excised the cheesy matter. This in fact is a way of injecting the stuff down it's throat... very effective!!!
Ok now after you have put a drop of the oil of oregano onto the molluscum... clean off any excess (shouldn't be much) with a tissue, and then apply a drop of the gentian violet. The gentian violet will stain the area where applied so I recommend that you use a very small drop and apply only to the top of the molluscum as it will spread to the rest of it by itself. What I did is I used the tip of a comb (the long pointy handle part) and dipped it into the violet, then touched the top of the molluscum with it.
Ok after that is done you now need to get a bandaid, a small one that will cover the molluscum you are treating and to the band aid guaze are (the padded part) apply the 500 PPM Coloidal Silver. Put enough on so that the gauze becomes wet all over. Then apply the bandaid so that the guaze comes in direct contact with the molluscum.
One more time during the day or evening, make sure the change that bandaid, and apply more colloidal silver to the new bandaid that will go back on to cover the molluscum.

For smaller immature erruptions apply colloidal silver directly to the entire area. Many times there will be multiple immature erruptions all within one area so this is very simple to do. Then follow by applying oil oregano directly to each immature erruption.

I had excellent results within 7 to 10 days seeing the mature erruptions actually wither away and fall off!!! No scar was left behing either.. both the oil of oregano and colloidal silver help to heal the area scar free!

The best part of all is that the colliodal silver that you will be taking orally will destroy the molluscum conatagiosum virus from within also. After 2 months of taking the Colloidal Silver orally I was totally free of MC and it has never came back. Every person that I have shared this formula with has also seen the same results. Good luck to you. And if it works for you as it has for me, then share the information freely with someone else that needs it.
God Bless.
PS... I suggest you learn more about Colloidal silver and oil of oregano. The information may help you or someone else greatly in the future.

*NOTE* I am not a medical doctor, nor do I give any medical advice. If you need medical advise then see your medical doctor. I don't recommend anyone follow anything that I have listed above, it is purely for educational purposes.
I know you already knew that but sounded good :p

Supposedly, close to 80% of all sexually active people have one of the 70 or so forms of HPV. A few of them cause warts, and a few of them can, under rare circumstances, cause the growth of cancerous cells in a woman's cervix, which will be picked up by a papsmear and can be dealt with. Most people with HPV stop showing symptoms and stop being contagious after a couple of years. The analogy I was given was that it was like chicken pox -- once you get it, you always have it, but your immune system takes care of it to the point where it is effectively gone. Furthermore, there is no test that can be done on men to determine whether they have HPV, besides looking for warts, which most people with HPV don't have (even the people with the HPV that causes warts usually don't develop warts). So, you all probably know a lot of people with HPV, who don't even know they have it, and will never suffer for it.

This is what I have learned. If anyone feels differently or has gathered conflicting information, please share.
