I was diagnosed w/ HPV about 4 years ago. My gyno didn't really tell me much about it & acted like it was no big deal. I've read a lot about it & posts on messages boards, but still have some questions.
First, is HPV the same as genital warts? My gyno said it is not & that I don't have warts, I have HPV.
I do have little wart-like things on the insides of thighs & around my vagina & I had these when she diagnosed me w/ HPV. From what I've read, they are supposed to grow in cauliflower-like clumps. Mine do not. They are seperate, raised, fleshy bumps. Also, when I was first diagnosed with them I did not have very many, but a couple of the ones that I had became very swollen & when I squeezed them they hurt & white pus & blood would come out, almost like a huge pimple.
Eventually, those went away, leaving only scars.
I still get a few bumps now & then but they don't swell or anything. Is this HPV, warts or what?
Has anyone else had warts or HPV that have swollen up like mine?

There are many strains of HPV. Some cause warts and some don't. The ones that don't cause warts are the most dangerous and can cause cancer. If you can pop these bumps or whatever then it's not a wart. Also a wart does not have to have a cauliflower appearence.
