hi
recently my sister went to get her regular pap smear like she always does and they said that it came back abnormal. now in the last 8 months i was infected with the HPV virus and the reason i am worried is because i share a bathroom with her including soap and my towel and rag are around, (she uses her own towel and rag) what i'm worried about is that she might have the hpv and that is why her pap is abnormal, now take in mind my sister is a VIRGIN shes older than me like in her 20's and i'm 16. since she is a virgin she shouldn't be getting anything right. PLEASE help me out here guys i'm so worried i wouldn't want to jeporadize her life in anyway. i love her alot and i'm really concerned. and i was wondering if she can get hpv from soap or even towels. PLEASE RESPOND

I doubt that you gave her HPV. An abnormal pap could mean that she has irregular cells caused by cancer not HPV. HPV causes cervical cancer as well but, it doesn't mean that is why she has abnormal cells. An abnormal pap can also indicate an infection like yeast, trich or BV. I think that you would have to have direct contact to transmit the virus. I don't think it can live that long outside the body or on soap.

From what I know, certain strains of HPV *can* be transmitted through shared usage of towels...

yes, depending on the type of HPV, is can be transmittable...use liquid soaps in bath...clean tub good..don't leave your wet stuff in there...there are several different types you should ask your physician which type it is that you have...it is genital warts...warts are caused by a virus...sorry...you can find all types of info on web about that...
