im a male , 24 years of age and my post is about concern for my girlfriend who is going to the gynecologist thursday of this week. The problem with my girlfriend is that i would say around 3 out of the 5 times we have sex she checks down by her vagina and she has spotting of blood followed by abdomen pains which occur the morning after we have sex.is this normal that she has spotting or can it be a sexually transmitted disease , im nervous that i might have given her something.any answers would be appreciated .

Hmm... I wish I had the answer to your questions. I've had some spotting after sex before, I think it happened once or twice, but I don't remember having abdominal pain. It's good to hear that you are concerned about your girlfriend and that she is seeing a gynecologist. I saw my gynecologist today for some tests and I'm going back this Friday. I told him that I've bled after sex before. He didn't discuss much with me and said he will on Friday, so I'll most likely be asking him about that same question, however the tests I had done were unrelated to the bleeding after sex. I'm still curious though. Good luck!

she is going to the gynecologist tomorrow her previous scheduled appointment was cancelled. As far as the bleeding two days ago she had more spotting and the abdomen pains continue , so im a little worried for her , i have work tomorrow and im not going to be able to focus at all until i know if its nothing to worry about her something to worry about.

My educated guess would be that your girlfriend has either chlamydia or or a urinary tract infection. In many instances a male carrying and STD had no symptoms while their partner will. It's great that she's going to the gynecologist but remember: No sex until both of you have been treated and your follow up exam is negative, otherwise you'll just keep passing the darn thing back and forth to one another.

Help! I'm 23 and I'm having the same problem too! I've been spotting after sex after the last 7-10 times I've had sex. I was tested before I was with my boyfriend and he said he was too. I even got tested for STDs again after we stopped using condoms because I thought he might have given me one (turned out I just was having recurrent yeast infections because of insulin resistance).
I have been 100% monogamous, and I believe in my heart he has been too. This morning my doctor said chlamydia and ghonorreah are the #1 reasons for vaginal bleeding after sex. But when she looked at my culture under the microscope she said there wasn't an abnormal amount of white blood cells (often seen with STDs), but I still have to wait for the cultures!
I've always had normal paps, and my last one was in June. I'm so scared! What if my b/f accidentally gave me something and it's been slowly making me infertile?

well my girlfriend returned from the gynecologist today and told me the doctor took a pap and said it was normal but will have tests run during this week just to make sure everything is clean , Ok my question is if the gynecologist looked at her today and said to her everything looks normal is there still a chance the tests she is running will come back abnormal.

Healthwise -- For a minute I wondered if you were my bf, but my boyfriend isn't saavy enough to find this board. I too have to wait until tomorrow to find out about the cultures, but there weren't any polopys (sp?) either. I'm almost positive that tests will come back negative, but I hate this waiting game! If anyone has any words of support, they'd be much appreciated!

My tests all came back negative! But now I have to see a specialist because they still don't have an explanation. Healthwise -- has anyone given your girlfriend logical explanations?

you may be bleeding down there from stress . When you are having sex you may be getting yourself so worried about the bleeding that your throwing your body into a tailspin. Or you may not be moist enough down there when having sex which will make bleeding a possibility.

i went to the doctors and all they did was take blood and he is talking about changing my birth control pill do you guys think bleeding after sex could be that? i dont

I have heard of some pills with high hormone levels causing breakthrough bleeding -- but have you ever been tested for STDs or had a pap smear? If you haven't, I would just to rule everything else out.
I'm still waiting to find out what is causing mine. My boyfriend and I used astroglide the last three times we had sex and I didn't have any bleeding afterwards during any of those instances. If this is just being caused by rough sex, I'm going to feel so dumb. But I've never bled before from having sex without artificial lubricants.

That could be lots of things, for example, a yeast infection, bv, trich, or some other std. Why don't you just go to the doctor?

I am super devistated -- I think. I went to the doctor this morning and they surprised me by doing a colposcopy where they look at my cervix. The doctor found a growth about half the size of a watermelon seed. She said my cervix looks a little whitish too. I started to cry because I know it probably means I have HPV.
What confuses me most is that I am participating in a Merck vaccine study for HPV-16. They tested me for the antibodies to HPV three months ago and I did not have them. My paps were clear and everything looked fine. I've only slept with my boyfriend since then, and we had unprotected sex prior to the antibody test.
I'm freaking out! My boyfriend is sad because he's afraid it could affect our chances of having kids. But both of us agreed this won't change how we love one another. I feel really ashamed, like I've done something bad. I thought being educated about this issue would protect me from it.
