I have had HPV for a little while and my first warts actually came around this past March. My doctor has always frozen them off as a method of treatment. He freezes them and they do go away, but while some are going away, it seems that new ones are always coming back.

It seems that 5 or so new ones want to come every few weeks after the last freeze. I am now trying Aldara, with some skepticism...in my fourth week with no results...granted I hear it usually takes about 12 weeks to see any.

I'm just sick of reccurances. My doctor orginally said I didn't many at all (like 5 the first time) and it was not likely after a couple treatements they would keep coming back. He was wrong. If the Aldara doesnt do anything he is going to send me to a dermatologist and possibly recommended laser surgery.

Does anyone know how successful laser surgery is....and how bad it scars compared to cryo? Also, any other suggestions for someone who just has them keep recurring. I wouldnt be so bothered by this if they wouldnt keep coming back all the time!!

ANY THOUGHTS???

Burning the warts helped me and it didn't hurt. Within days they were all gone. I've used Aldara too and that worked. It does take awhile but one day you will wake up and they will be all gone. Good luck.

DO YOU SMOKE IF SO YOU NEED TO QUIT.

I socially smoke(parties and such)...and even that I planned on quitting before the end of the school year.

I know this lowers your immune system, and I actually considered this to be a factor.....

any idea how much it can factor in(i know this sounds like a silly question...but basically I was curious if anyone had been smoking when they got them and if they stopped smoking and they stopped recurring)?

Yeah... I was wondering that too, cuz I smoke like a pck a day and I am really trying to quit, but I have been smoking for years and I think that if I knew that it would make them go away it would be easier to quit. I went to the doctor and got a script for condilox and the day I got it I spilled it and I can't get it filled again. I am broke so all I can do is hope and take vitamins,

I heard that smoking lowers your immune system. So I quit smoking cold turkey. I believe things always happen for a reason so I made my hpv the reason for quitting. I know it sounds strange but It worked for me. Dont get me wrong I want a cigerrete bad!! but evertime I think of having a smoke I think of my warts getting worse. This made me deal with my disease a lot better. If I never contracted hpv I probably would have never quit and who knows I'll probably be in the lung cancer messaage board instead of here. I hope this helps out. Good luck with your treatment.
