I recently found out that the pap test I had done last month shows some mild dysplasia. If further testing indicates that I do have HPV I have questions. I was looking through prior posts on HPV and I'm wondering what is the transmission time to contact this from a partner? The reason I'm asking is that my husband is the only one I've ever had sexual intercourse with. All of my previous pap's have been fine until this one. Also, I noticed a few small skin tags (so I thought) between my husbands legs, in the crotch area, could this be gential warts or is it only on the gentials? I know this must sound like a stupid questions but I'm desperate to find out answers at this point. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thanks for your help. After reading your posting I still have a question. Since 18 I've had pap test done yearly, on time. I've never had any come back abnormal. If this one that came back abnormal is the cause of HPV, does that mean still that I could have had this for years? I've not had any symptoms that they speak of. Mainly I'm worried about the possiblity of an unfaithful partner because about 7 yrs ago I ended up with a vaginal lesion, went to the dr and he said it was herpies and said that it can lay dorment for years too. I go in Feb to have a follow-up pap and biopsy done so I guess I'll just have to try not to worry : ) Thanks again for your help!

Write down all your questions and when you go to the dr. ask him/her. I did all that worrying too. In fact, when my test came back abnormal and my dr. called me at home to tell me I had HPV and it could lead to cancer…I thought my world was over. I was crying on the phone - all I heard was cancer. My hubby was getting worried since I was crying (I'm not a cryer). But then after I looked it up on several different web sites I felt so much better. Plus I felt like a fool for crying. I have to go to the dr. every 6 mo. for a pap and it hasn't gotten any worse.

Just type in HPV in your search engine and go from there. The more knowledgeable you are about this the better you'll feel.

Bettyrose, you brought up a flash back in how I felt when I learned I had it. I went to every site that dealt with this issue; HPV. I then was totally shocked in what I saw (pictures with bad case of genital warts.....which by the way were picutres that are rare. These people with over extreme cases where the butt or penis or virginia is covered with warts didnt go to the doctors when they should have, maybe because they were too ashamed, or scard, or whatever natural feeling they were dealing with). I remember spending forever reading up, and then I learned that ended up a bad thing. The doctor sent me to this seminar (sp) about HPV and how to deal with it. There I got the perfect understanding of what it is and how to deal with it, and live a happy life. You just have to be persistent, and keep your immune system up. I have had my singlar wart removed a few months ago, and no problems yet. If it does come up again, it will NOT pull me down, because NOW I have a better understanding and since I have NO choice, but to deal with it I choose now to live a happy and better life.

BTW you welcome Bettyrose. I just felt that I needed to post that info so others will have a clearer understanding of what it is, so others can know there is hope and they can live happly......and also to let them know their feelings are natural and to let them know they are not alone.

I would like to know as male; If no sings of HPV are present and yet it may be "dorment" how can you know for sure if you are infected?

This way I would know if im infecting the whole world or not...

I've been with this guy for three years and we both lost our virginity to one another. and since then we havent been with anyone else. I went and had a pap test a lil while back and they found some abnormal cells, so i went back for a colposcopy and they found a lil wart inside me. so she had to do a biopsy. I dont understand how i could have got it. She said that it was from my Boyfriend but he doesnt have any warts or anything wrong with him. If he doesnt have anything like that then how could i have a wart inside my vagina? I never had any problems at all and then when i went for a pap for the first time it was like everything went down hill from there. I've talked to my Boyfriend about it and he doesnt understnad how i could have gotten something like that inside me, when neither of us had been with anyone else and we never had any problems like this before. He has a wart on his finger, and i thought maybe i could have got one in me when he fingered me or something, Is that possible? I really dont understand how i she said that i have a wart inside me when my boyfriend doesnt have anything on his penis or inside of it or anything. Im really confused and maybe my doctor is wrong or something, i Dont know.. So what do you guys think it is? Please help me...
