Last year I had a Pap done and it came back ASCUS. My dr told me it is likely HPV and not to worry to just come back in 6 months. I went back in 6 months and my test came back normal this time. I have been checking myself for any signs and I haven't seen anything abnormal til now. Last week I shaved and the next day my vulva was irritated and itchy and when I look at it it is somewhat bumpy but it's not a bump or two its spread out on the outer halves of both lips and they are also thinner than usual. It almost looks like really dry skin. Could this be HPV? Could I have the virus even after my pap came back okay? Any advice or opinions would greatly help.

whats up girl?

Check this out...I was so worried about HPV for so long, giving it to my g/f. Its not worth it.

You most likely irritated your vagina from shaving, my g/f decided to shave it all and she got irritation down there. also when you shave you can see the skin much more easily now that the hair is gone. HPV comes and goes if you have it. Some strains cause warts some don't do anything, some can cause cervical cancer. From what I have read wart strains of HPV usually arent the ones to worry about.

To ease your mind....studies show that cancer of the cervix takes many years to grow and it usually only affects women who do not get annual pap tests.

Your body does fight HPV. So relax hon! stop shaving and use wax.....it might hurt more to do but its less irritating.

write back if you have anymore concerns

Thanks for the reply...I am feeling a bit of a sigh of relief.
I don't normally shave, you have to be bare for laser hair removal which I am in the process of. I think I will stick to a real close trim after this though.
I hope you are right, I have done some research and have a pretty good idea on what hpv is and what to watch for and be cautious of in regards to symptoms and complications. That's why I posted (very good forum btw) since the pictures I see seem to be extreme cases and mine do not look like that. I am just leery since my doc said I might have it and have been checking myself nearly every day since.
Again, thank you

no problem. keep getting your paps and have protected sex. there are worse STDS out there than HPV. good luck!
