What threats of STD's are there for lesbians? Me and my girlfriend are both clean, but It's best to know anyway.

If you share sex toys, then I would assume that all the STD's that apply to hetro couples would apply also to a lesbian couple too. Also, some STD's are spread by skin to skin contact, not actual fluids, i.e., Herpes, HPV, Molluscum Contagium, so these would be a possibility any time there is genital skin to skin contact. Also, since oral sex is a pretty big part of lesbian sex, herpes is a big possibility, especially if one partner has ever had coldsores on her lip. If you have herpes orally, you can give your partner genital herpes, even if a coldsore isn't present at the time because the virus sheds asymptomatically from time to time. Hope that helps :)

NailBunny, I am also a lesbian and I just recently contracted genital herpes type HSV-1 from my girlfriend through oral sex. She has had cold sores about once a year since she was a child, but she was not having one when I contracted it. (that I know of) She is 26 and I am 30, yet neither one of us had ever heard that cold sores are the same as herpes and that you can give them to someone in their genitals. That information is just not out there! Regardless, please be cautious because you CAN get herpes through oral sex from a female that has had cold sores and let me tell you, it is NOT fun. It has recked complete havoc on my life and my relationship.
