I was just wondering what other people with eczema use to treat it.

Hydrocortison (spelling?) cream is what I use. Plus I don't use bar soap. I have to use body washes that are non drying and I use lots or lotion right after I shower. I haven't had a problem with my eczema in a long time.

I also use cortisone creams but they can't be used for long since they thin the skin. I have found that since I stop eating or drinking anything with caffeine my problem has practically gone away. There is also a wonderful cream that works wonders and has no perfumey smell. Its call Cetaphil moisturizing cream, not the lotion, the cream that comes in a jar. Use after showering and ever time you wash your hands if thats where the problem is. Hope this helps.

I use Cetaphil, too. The cream and the waterless cleanser. The cleanser is wonderful...especially in the winter and my eczema flares up and water hurts my skin. The cleanser is very creamy and you just use a soft washcloth to take it off. It leaves a very light moisturizer behind. Also...it's wonderful for taking makeup off and can even be used on baby skin!

For the most part, my eczema has gotten considerably better since my hysterectomy 12 years ago (possibly problems relating to hormones?). What used to be a problem all over, including my face, and had to be treated with prednisone & cortisone shots/cream is now just basically on my feet, fingers, and creases of legs & arms...very tolerable.

Thanks for all your help..I will get some cetaphil and try that, mine is basically just on a few of my fingers and only bothers me when the weather gets cool, but I'm 38 weeks pregnant(haivng a c-section on Friday) and ts bothered me my whole pregnancy instead of getting the usual break from it during the summer, which makes me wonder if its hormone related also. My 3 1/2 year old son has it worse though, he gets it in various spots all over his body and it bothers him. He usually gets it when the weather cools down too, he's just broken out in the last few days. The only thing I have been able to find that helps is the Avon lotion with cocoa butter in it, everything else burns when it goes on. I've tried Aveeno baby wash on him but it doens't seem to do much good. I just feel awful for the little guy because I know how uncomfortable it can be and he's got it alot more places than I do.

ive been getting eczema patches under my eyes and cheek area and under my nose for over a year now and ive tried cetaphil and a tons of hydrocortisones and not many of them worked well at all. it can be embarrasing at times too because it looks like i have this red rash on my face :( its not bad eczema but i get flaky and red irrated skin there.

but yesterday it flared up pretty bad and i read a post on here back from last year and someone said to use noxzema mostuirizing face wash.........and let me tell you, i bought it today, i used it about 5 hours ago, my skin feels so soft, its not chapped or peeling anymore and the redness is almost COMPLETELY gone....in 4-6 hours! this might sound funny but the name of the product is noxzema..split that up and you get "no ezcema" is what it sounds like, but this stuffworks great and im going to use it everyday now and hopefully i will never break out again.

also the person that posted to use this said they used in on other parts of their body too and it works there too

Aveeno concentrated anti-itch small 4 oz bottle works good. Clotrimazole with a high quality aloe vera also woks good. My eczema was caused by candida albicans (yeast enfection) caused by too much sugar in my diet in this case orange juice. Dairy, sugar makes it worse also tomatoe sauce, wheat, beef can also.WE all have candida, are good bacteria keeps it in line. Anti biotics (internal) kills both are good and bad bacteria. Supplement the good w/ probiotics. Primal Defense is a very potent probiotic, which I started taking. Jojoba, I heard kills candida topically but never tried it. My 2 cents. p.s. It is said that 80% of our population have a candida overgrowth and don't know it. Eliminate dairy and simple sugars, take in lots of fiber and water and see if that helps.

You guys should try taking zinc supplements. Not only is it an immune system booster, but it can do wonders for the skin.

I'd start out with 50-75mg. You should NEVER take 100+mg of zinc, unless told by your doctor, since that amount can damage your immune system.

I have eczema too. But my question is..does anybody get white spots. I do and they are all over my legs, arms and like one spot on my chest and a little one on my back. They drive me nuts!! The doctor said that they will go away just over time. I can't tan or anything because the whit spot doesnt tan, and the skin gets darker thats not ruined and then the spots will be more obvious. I tried a sunless tanner, it works some what, but you can still see the spots. Im totally embarresed by them and I don't even wear shorts anymore. I'm 13 and I got eczema like a year ago...and it's sort of weird cause I have never had a skin problem when I was little or anything. But I would just like to know if anyone else has white spots that go along with their eczema, and what you do about it, and if you got rid of it by a certain cream, then please let me know!!! This stuff has pretty much ruined my life, and I would like to know everything you know about it. And another thing is that this girl told me to take hempseed oil, but umm hempseed is marijuana, so my doctor laughed at that when i told her, but it kinda aggervated me that someone told me to take marijuana!! Oh and also email me at wildncrazy122@cox.net

Heepseeds don't contain any THC, which is the illegal part of the plant. This oil is very useful. I haven't tried it, but I know it isn't illegal.
Emu oil is another good topical. A little goes a long way. I use Burdock root extract, and it keeps the lesion flatter, less scaly.
My eczema is chronic, and many things help, but I have to stay vigilant and switch remedies when I see it becoming obstinant.
