This is an ongoing problem that has been going on for almost one year now. It has reached a peak and is not getting any better I have seen countless dermatologists and doctors who can suggest nothing else. To describe the problem it first started with small slits in the corner of my mouth which eventually healed, then I had a "puffiness" and redness in the corner of my mouth which look like my lips are "spreading outward" now I have the feeling of an abcess or my skin swelling about a millimeter away from the redness in the corners of my mouth. I feel that this could be the overall underlying problem that is causing all these skin probs please if anyone has any similar experiences or any form of treatment that think might help please do not hesitate to contact me by email or thru reply. Seen DR. Showed him history, told him that redness in the corner of my mouth now looks permanent, also told him of swelling in skin and feeling of abcess. He pushed the skin and said he could feel a slight abcess but that this type of thing is usually not drained. He said he could offer no advice but would refer me to another dermatologist.

I have also tried using things such as aloe vera gel, emu oil, gator balm, a lot of natural remedies to no avail. please help if u have any suggestions.
Thanks
Chris

have you tried switching toothpaste? i have a similar problem in the corners of my mouth, though not as severe. i really didn't notice it until i changed toothpaste brands and i started to slough off the lining of my mouth. i did some research and found out that a lot of people have real problems with conventional toothpaste. i have switched to tom's of maine and since then i've had the sores only when i use my husband's toothpaste.
