WHOOPS! Posted this under Beauty. Wonder if it is safe to use over the counter hair color over professional hair color. Salon has been doing it for years and I'd like to try it myself.

I think it probably depends on what you're doing. I always do my own colouring if I'm going all one colour (like back to my natural) and if I feel I'm pretty safe doing so. I know by now which colour and brand work the best and so it's become pretty fool-proof. If you're getting highlights done, or something that's way off the natural colour of your hair, I'd be more cautious!
