I have large pores on my nose and they get big and black and ugly in the summer. I just can't seem to get rid of them or close them up or whatever, no matter how much I scrub and cleanse. I'm wondering if there is a home remedy to help? Or a wonder product I don't know about? I'd love to hear from someone!

Thanks!

Try using the Biore stips once a week or so to remove blackheads. Use a good cleanser, like Purpose or Neutrogena. Then, once or twice a week gently scrub your face with an apricot scrub-- St. Ives has a good one. Another thing that can make pores appear smaller is to do a mud mask once a week.

lol, I do do those things. It still doesn't help. It looks pretty good after I cleanse in the morning and at night, but in the middle of the day and right before I wash, it's pretty bad. I'm hoping there was another way to clear them up. My skin is pretty oily so I'm stumped as to what to do.

Ok... Keep doing those things, and in addition, pick up some Clean & Clear blotting papers. They'll fit in your pocket. A couple times a day, blot your face with them and it sucks up all the oil. They're great.

im in the same exact situation as you but only for the past 7 months. nothing has worked for me. I tried retin a for 4 months with no change. over the counter systems from netrogena did nothing. I use the same system day and night and weekly would use a biorre strip and put on a mask to exfoliate. I also sleep on my back and change my sheets and clothes daily. Oddly zits really aren't a problem.

its really gross but it just comes back and mid day and night mine look like crap.

All I can say is don't pick. I have done it so many times to get that crap out and it comes back in a day its nasty. I never experienced those in my life before and im now 25 years old ugh.

How to temporarily shrink big pores? Go to the Liquor Store and get yourself a bottle of Everclear - yep! Straight Grain Alcohol!

When alcohol is distilled, all the oils are removed from it. Since it seeks to replace the compound that was removed, it will soak up all the excess oil from your pores and make them appear smaller. If you need to carry it with you for use during the day, purchase a small jar with a tight-fitting lid. Fill the jar with lint-free facial wipes (you can purchase these at Sally Beauty Supply and they are made by Carolina, then pour in enough of the alcohol so that all the wipes are moist. Then, simply replace the lid to keep the moisture in and prevent the alcohol from evaporating.

My son had this same problem when he was young, and my dermatologist actually wrote a prescription for Everclear with these instructions attached. Go figure -- but it actually worked and now he has no problems at 32 years old. His pores are perfectly normal and have been for years. :)

I was going to suggest the Biore strips as well. It worked for me. Have you seen a dermatologist? NEVER use ALCOHOL it causes your skin to be over stimulated and over produce oils. A dermatologist also told me that if you have oily skin don't use anything greasy like Noxema.

Grain alcohol is totally different from rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is a skin stimulant - grain alcohol is not.

Alcohol, eh? What about rubbing alcohol? Would that work?

RMG -

I have the same trouble and I hate it! Worse, I have freckles, so using foundation to cover things up makes me look fake. Even professionals can't make the make up look good.

So, I am considering a dermatologist. Have you seen one? I'm thinking dermabrasion (having a few layers of skin removed) may be the only thing that works.

I have found that Queene Helene's mint julip masque helps. I've also started using Burt's bees products - and they are wonderful. I use the acne spot treatment and the tomato soap bar. good luck. My pores have shrinked and my black heads are going away! woohoo

I'm reviving quite an old post!!! I saw this and I decided to go out and buy "Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque" and I must say, I've only used it for 2 nights (overnight) and I already see a difference. My pores have decreased already ever so slightly . . . I really need to CLEAN OUT my pores one night before I use it, but I will have to be on a weekend so I don't look like Rudolph the next day at work (I will spare you all the icky details on how I do that) . . . But ladies with large pores, TRY THIS . . . it is only $4 . . I got mine a Rite Aid and it was the only tube so apparently this stuff is popular . . . TRY TRY TRY . . . your skin may feel a little dry the next day, but it is WELL WORTH IT . . I can't wait to see how my face looks in another couple days!!! Good luck ladies!!!
