does anybody know if a product like this exists that works? My haircutter mentioned a shampoo named nioxynil but im not sure if thats how its spelled. He said it prevents hair loss when you shampoo. I have really thin and coarse hair and everytime i shampoo (i use pert plus shampoo) my hair looks so thin for a few days after. I have spiky hair so it makes it even more noticeable. I've even stopped shampooing so frequently because of this.
thanks

It is called Nioxin. I used it for a few months and have not seen any difference at all. I stopped using it because I think it made my hair worse. Sorry to say/

Nizoral has been shown in trials to actually increase shaft diameter and the active ingredient ketaconozole is mildly effective for hairloss.

So this would be assuming his hair thinning or hair loss is fungal.

I'm strongly convinced that a lot of skin conditions are fungal related.

What are the best products to treat skin, scalp and nails?

I know of a keta Rx the cream, but when it comes to areas like the scalp that is impractical, or areas that cover more skin, it becomes impractical and too expensive.

Nioxin smells really bad and would give me horrible hives thatn covered my neck and they would last for an hour. I did not see any difference (used for at least 4 months). Yuck!

Nizoral does not stop hairloss. It is primarily used for dandruff becuase of it's anti-fungal properties however the same ingredient was shown in men who had androgenetic alopecia to increase hair shaft diameter after 6 months. It plays a minor role in the binding of dht to the androgen receptor. Your not going to stop hairloss but it is beneficial to use longterm in conjunction with something else.

Has anyone read the ingredients on all those shampoos? They are all basically the same with a few different minor fragrances or this & that! IMHO..... changing ones diet would go a lot further in improving the quality of hair & skin. Eliminate all sugar & junk food (you know what junk food is) and drink as much pure water as you can, often. Add flax seed oil or olive oil to the diet. That's my 2-cents worth of advice!
