View Full Version : Hair Question for Marti...

I Love reading all of your responses and was hoping you could help me...I've always had Long hair (a little past my bra strap) Well for the past 3yrs i have been dying it (its naturally very dark brown and i've been using Feria from Sally's Beauty Supply to make it a light blond) Anyways my hair was very very fried, had split ends, was dead and looked very very crappy. I was brave and got it cut to right above my shoulders. I thought this would help but my hair still feels like crap and i have not dyed it since Nov. It feels very dried out. I get my hair cut at the same place and after the last time Dec 19th i gave in and bought their shampoo and conditioners because when i leave the salon my hair feels great, but when i use it on my own it does not...My question is have i not waited long enuff for the protective shampoo they sold me for my damaged hair to work and make it better? Or is there some shampoo and conditioner out there that would be better? I use a wide tooth comb as soon as i get out of the shower to comb my hair and my hair feels worse the next day if i let it air dry rather than blow dry it. I don't know what else to do! HELP!

I thought of a couple more questions i hope you don't mind me asking, I think you mentioned somewhere or maybe not that you use Oatmeal soap and then Jojoba oil on your face? i have many blackheads and zits that come and go around my chin, will that help with those and how long will it take to see results, about a month??

Also i don't know if you could possibly do this but if you hit profile and go to my webpage i have a couple of pics of me and was wondering if you could tell me which hairstyle would be good for my face? the pic is kinda old, as of now my hair is right to my shoulders. I would like to go a little bit shorter but don't know what to do with it. No matter how i get it cut it seems like it just Hangs there and does nothing as in the pic LoL my hair is very thick to. Thanks for all your help! i wish you lived closer to me so you could be my own hairdresser LoL maybe then i wouldn't be in some bad shape! -Clare

I'm sort of butting in here (sorry!) but thought you might want my opinion, as a back up opinion, you never know http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I looked at your pictures and I think you totally suit long hair, it's too bad you had to cut it. But now that you've cut it you can start growing it healthier! You'd look great with long hair that had some layering, since it's so thick you can do so much with it!

If I were you I'd get it dyed to match your natural colour (or at least closer to) so you can stop with the bleach and not have to worry about your roots growing in. My experience with salon products is that they aren't that different from drug store brands. I've tried sooo many salon conditioners to fix my damaged hair and nothing has worked as well as, believe it or not, St. Ives Intensive Conditioner that you can buy for $3.99.

I could probably say more but I've got to get to bed, so I'll leave this for now! If you want any more info, I'll be back!

Hmmm, have you ever tried deep conditioning your hair? You can go to the salon and get them to do a K-Pak treatment, I haven't had one myself but I've heard they work well.

What shampoo/conditioner are you using right now? I was advised to try Infusium leave-in conditioner before blow-drying and I've found it does help with the condition of my hair. I'm the same as you, my hair is worse off when it air dries!
