Hi. I am 25 years old and have noticed that since having my children that my nail grow curved down ward. I didn't always have this problem either. But I have to keep them short because if they get above the skin even they start curving downward. It is so ODD! Does anyone know why this could be? My mother think a vitamin deficancy (sp?). I KNOW nails can do this if they get TOO long but mine do it right away now.

Thanks so much! :)

It sounds like you are developing 'Club Nails' - an explannation follows:

Clubbing results from chronic low blood-oxygen levels. This can be seen with cystic fibrosis, congenital cyanotic heart disease, and several other diseases. The tips of the fingers enlarge and the nails become extremely curved from front to back.

You might want to see your physician for a proper diagnosis.

The pictures you see are most likely the "worst case" of the problem. this does not develop evernight, but takes a while. It can be prevented if your physician can figure out what is internally wrong.
