Firstly, my thanks for all your remarkable advice. You are so smart! Anyway, I know that you are a supporter of the Aveeno soaps. I am an adult acne sufferer(I'm 41) and currently on Retin A micro and an oral antibiotic. Because I am so so dry from this medication, I wanted to know which of the soaps you always speak of? Some of them are so drying and I'm already at that point. Because of all your Jojoba oil good news, I'm tempted to go that route as well. Because of my age, I'm looking older due to this surface dryness! Your suggestions are super appreciated...thanks for being there :)

I try not to recommend brands of products - only TYPES of products. Your skin is dry from the Retin A! that's what it is supposed to do; dry out your skin and supposedly, the underlying acne caused by clogged pores.

First, you need to cleanse the skin of all the dry flakes, and for that, I recommend an Oatmeal Facial Bar for cleansing the facial skin. Secondly, I also recommend a mixture of 4 parts jojoba oil to 1 part vitamin E oil to rehydrate and condition the skin. The jojoba will open the pores and help to clean out the clogged pores, then draw the healingproperties of the vitamin E in after it. After you apply this mixture, wait at least 10 minutes to be sure it has absorbed into your skin. If there is still residual oils on the surface, you can wipe off the excess with a soft, absorbent towelette. Wait a couple of minutes, then apply your Retin A. Only apply the Retin A at night when it will do the most good. Apply the oil before applying your makeup, but be sure to use only a few tiny drops as a little goes a long way. Allow it to absorb before applying your makeup, or you will feel 'greasy' all day long.

For everyones information, I am going to turn 55 years old in August, and I am told that I look way younger than that - even with the white hair :) I can tell you, the jojoba and vitamin E WORK!

Hi marti

Do you mean say if I mix 4 drops of jojoba oil and one drop of vit e, is that the ratio you mean. Four parts jojoba to one part vit e. I only mix small amounts of this fantastic oil you recommend.

Thanks in advance

Actually, you can pre-mix these 2 oils in 6 oz quantities by mixing 5oz of jojoba with 1oz vitamin E. The shelf life of the oils is well over a year as they do not 'spoil' or evaporate. I mix mine in a 6oz dispenser bottle and keep it next to my bathroom sink. By pre-mixing, you can also use the oil on the heels of your feet to keep them soft and conditioned, your elbows, or any other spots where you are experiencing dry skin.
