Hey guys! :D
I was very sick last year and on alot of medication. It basically ruined my nails. They're always spliiting and I have to try cover them up with nailpolish. No matter how much I file them etc they still peel. The doctor said they should be good in 6 months, but does anybody know of any home treatments or stuff you can buy that will help splits? I'm not desperate to fix them or anything, cos theyre only nails but any suggestions would be lovely. Fake nails are not me because I can't stand long nails.
Thanks!

I tried everything and the only thing that even seems to kind of work is Sally Hansen Maximum Growth. Also, a good multivitamin will help. You will notice the effects of the multivitamin in about a month as your nails grow out.

I agree. A multivitamin would help, but if you can buy gelatin vitamins this will really cause them to grow. I have a hard time getting mine to grow, and I can't seem to keep fingernail polish on them, so I bought "Hands Nails & Cuticles Creme" by Sally Hansen. It has Vitamins A,E,C, and grape seed oil and chamomile. This has really helped my nails to look better and grow faster.

Getting acrylic nails doesn't mean they have to be long...you can get fake nails put on as short or long as you want them to be!
I swear by Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails with Nylon - it's served me very well! My nails are very strong and long, and I've even had acrylics before (which weakened my nails for a long time)...Sally Hansen is good stuff!

Hi,
I had the same problem with my nails and I tried everything,I mean everything including acrylic and gel nails.
Then I found Nail Tek 11! It is wonderful! My nails are long and stong. They don't chip, peel or split. I have even bumped a nail and it didn't break! Where as before that bump would have been the end of a nail.
Anyway I bought Nail Tek II at salon (Beauty Bar) in the mall. I have also seen it in a nail salon where they do the acrylics and gels.
There is Nail Tek I, II and III. II is for what you are describing about your nails. It cost anywhere from $10 to $14.
Good Luck

Hi,
I have problems with my nails, and dry hair. I have Hashimoto's which is a thyroid disease, that makes my nails, hair, skin very dry. For my nails I have started using Sally Hansen Age Correcting polish. It is great. My nails are still dry and a little split, but they are better than before. I do have to keep it on always and it stays on great.

hey, i work at a Genovese pharmacy, which is in the same shopping center as a nail salon, and i get soooo many customers who've come straight from the nail salon to Genovese to buy "nail tek" or "nail teque" products...they're basically the same thing except one is a cheaper version of the other...a lot of women buy it because the nail salon recommends it...it must work well...i hope that helps you...
P.S. sally hansen products are a scam! the SH nail polishes i bought turned gooey after a few weeks and i ended up having to throw them out...the french-nail polish set also streaks on my nails...and also, the SH hand moisturizer with the grape seed oil...it SEEMS like its working, but then it ends up drying your hands up even more in the end, so it basically forces you to have to keep using the product...you think its really working but your hands keep getting drier...and then you buy more and more of their product...i think they're just trying to get you to use more of their stuff...i don't know...just my opinion...

I would try nail envy...i am a lic. nail tech and i have always for many years had acrylics and i still do them on my clients, but that is what they want. I do have clients with natural nails and I can't keep the stuff on the shelf long enough...i finally made up my mind and stopped wearing them and my nails are really strong and don't peel or break or anything...but as a nail tech I am very faithful about how i take care of my hand and nails....(along with mini manicures)cuticle oil cuticle cream, lotion, etc.....i guess that would be with anything, like letting your bangs grow out...you couldn't keep cutting them and expect them to get really long... And I am sure there are alot of good products out there....but the nail envy is the one I have used and always went back to....so hope that helps.....
