I was curious to know why my liver keeps burning,, and how the lortabs or opiates in general affect the liver,
I haven't been taking alot but enough,, maybe 5 maybe 7.5mg a day,, thats it, for about 3 months,, not for any pain,, just to get high, and my liver is beggining to burn,, for those of you who think I am stupid for wanting to educate myself on what affect opiates have on the liver please don't respond ,, for anyone that would like to inform me of the contraindications of opiates, feel free and thank you god bless

i don't know about the opiate but lortabs have "tylenol" in them and tylenol is very hard on the liver. an overdose of tylenol can cause liver failure. a blood test for liver function can tell if there is something wrong.

I am just curious - your liver is an organ, how can you feel it "burn"? Are you sure that is what it is? I think you should get to a doctor and be straight with them - and STOP taking ANYTHING just to get high. You're here, so read some posts - educate yourself about the progression and power of addiction and where it will take you - guaranteed - if you continue the way you are right now.

At one point in my active addiction (I've been clean now for three years) I was taking approximately 30 7.5 Lortabs a day each containing 500-650 mg of tylenol. I was in pretty bad shape when I finally did go to rehab (after my arrest for prescription forgery) I was told I was a very lucky person that all of this tylenol consumption had not already killed me or damaged my liver. In other words, most times yes liver damage does indeed happen. Please seek some help before your addiction gets out of control, ruins your health, or worse. I speak from true personal experience.

One thing to remember is that opioids raise the pressure in the common bile duct more than tenfold which can produce biliary colic or distress in the area around the gallbladder, an area behind and the liver.
