All of a sudden my two ring finger nails have gotten extremely soft and are broken down to "nubs". What can I use to make them grow and be strong again. They just keep shattering and they look horrible. Help!!!

First, dont put too much pressure on those fingers. For example, dont use them to open a soda can, etc. Eat jello. Dont get hands wet too often. People who do dishes alot tend to have weaker nails. You can buy a sally hansen nail hardener from Cvs, Rite-aid, Eckerd, K-mart,etc.

Jello will do nothing to help strengthen the nails - that is a proven myth. Do you have your hands in water a lot, or use household cleaning solutions without wearing gloves? Do you garden or do any type of outside chores? If so, you should also be wearing gloves. Nails are very absorbent and are almost immediately efected by outside elements - including household cleaning solutions and excess amounts of water. Water will wick the natural oils and moisture from the nails, leaving them weak and prone to breakage. Get some Solar Oil from your local nail salon or from an Ulta Cosmetic Outlet, or Botanical Oil from the nail department in Sally Beauty Supply. Apply at LEAST twice a day - more often if you wash your hands a lot. The oil will help to toughen the nails and make them stronger and less likely to break.
