Hi, I want to know if anyone knows of a product for the nails that will keep nail polish from chipping. It doesn't matter what the brand of nail color is for me. I've used Orly, Lancome, Sally Hansen and and O.P.I. to name a few. I always use a base and top coat. At least one nail may chip as soon as the next day sometimes. Help!! I love to wear polish but it gets tiring when I have to constantly keep going over chipped areas.

Scrub the nails and cuticles with a soft toothbrush and soap and water. Rinse really well! Dry the nails and skin with a lint free towel - preferably a good quality paper towel. File the free edge with a 240 grit file; you can get these at most beauty supply stores, but be SURE it is a 240 grit file. After filing, buff the free edge with a 3-way buffer; black to refine, white to shine and grey to seal. If the free edge is sealed in this manner, it cannot chip. Next, scrub the nails again to get rid of any traces of nail dust. Rinse and dry really well. Dampen a lint free wipe with Pure Acetone (also available at beauty supply stores.) This will rid the surface of any moisture and allow the Base coat to better grip the nail plate surface. Apply your base coat and allow to dry (usually 1 minute.) Apply your first THIN coat of color and allow to dry. If you apply too thick a coating, it will not cure properly, and will chip and peel. Apply a second THIN coating and allow to dry. Follow with a thin coating of top coat.

Hi, I have nails that chip so no matter what nail polish I used it chipped! So I finally found out about Revlon's Colorstay 'always on' nail polish...my nail polish doesn't chip no matter what I do, and it stays shiny like I just put it on for at least 8-10 days! Someone talked about this on the 'Beauty and Cosmetics' board. :)

hi
to keep nail polish on longer always put a clear coat on after your thru. this is done a the nail salon but you can buy what is called a quick drying coat that is clear and this will keep your nails from chipping or messing up. you can also use a clear coat of nail polish before you put on red polish or a dark polish, cause this keeps the nail from staining.
hope this helps
