i dont think i have dry hair. it becomes pretty oily if i dont shampoo every couple of days. but at the same time it is rough in texture and even if it gets a little long it starts to curl up form the ends. should i be worried about this? i would really like to make it a little softer. would jojoba oil do the trick marti? keeping in mind i do have oily hair! thanks.

Actually, your hair is not oily at all because it does not contain any oil producing cells - it is your SCALP that is oily. Use a good quality shampoo designed to control the oil production and it will cleanse the excess oil from the scalp properly. Yes, you can use jojoba oil on the hair shaft, but be sure to stay at least 3" from the scalp when you apply, and only apply a tiny bit. Even if it doesn't look/feel like you have enough, all it takes is about 1/4 teaspoon's worth for long hair. It will help to condition/moisturize the hair shaft and control dry, frizzy, fly-away ends.

i was actually reading up on this also and a website said that jojoba oil is great for the scalp also. helps prevent dandruff and some other benefits too. so i was just curious why you say not to apply it to the scalp.

It IS good for dandruff or dry scalp - it is not so good for an oily scalp.
