OK i got a perm back in october..well its still in and still looks pretty good. well me and my stepmom and sister were going to go to this one girl to get it redone and stuff. she said that perms are out? what is that suppose to me. well anyhow im still looking for someone else to do it and i dont care if its out or not. because i get mine done real loose so it just looks like my hair is scrunched all the time. Are perms really out? i see alot of people around that have curly perm hair.

I don't go to a hairstylist that tells me something is "out" If I want it done, I'm not going to let them talk me out of it unless it's something really drastic. I see people with curly hair all the time. I think she's full of you know what! Go to someone that will do what they're paid to do! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey
Curly hair and perms are sort of out, meaning they are not in style. Meaning the straight look is in, look at the hollywood stars, their hair is straight. It depends on your preference though, I mean if you like your hair scrunched by all means wear it like that!

I personally think it's really silly to feel as if you should be wearing your hair pin-straight just because that's what someobody started as the latest style. You wear what looks good on you. Period. All you need to do is read some of the posts on here about curly hair to see just how 'out' it is. It isn't. What your stylist probably meant was that girls don't get perms like they did in the 80's, but if that's the only way you can get a curl to stay in, well? I agree with the above poster...I wouldn't go to somebody who told me what to do with my hair, either. I personally don't like straight hair unless it's absolutely gorgeous and healthy, and I don't know too many people - celebrities included - who have hair like that. So you wear your hair the way you like and the way it looks good on you, and if getting a perm is the only way to get it like that, so be it.

Curly hair and straight hair will never be "out" because they are natural styles. It's not like in the 80's when you had some big ol' front comb over three feet off your head. DOn't listen to the woman. I personally like my hair better when it's curly and I get much more compliments on it. Straight hair gets so plain, besides almost everyone can make there hair straight (Some can't) but you get very few people with real curls. I know so many girls who scrunch like crazy and get crunchy hard waves because their hair doens't curl, it looks horrible. No wonder why they think it's "out" it's because it never looked good on the people whose hair wasn't made for scrunching. Get a perm, curls are beautiful. And if you like it get it!

Tight perms are out but body perms are not. The trend today may be straight hair but not for everyone. There are a lot of movie stars that still have some curl to their hair. I had the same question as you so I started noticing how celebs wear their hair. My hair is very fine and thin, so straight is not the answer for me. An In haircut with some loose curl is tasteful. Good luck.
