Hi, I wanted to fix a bad hair job that made my natuarlly very dark brown hair come out reddish burgundy like. I now bought Loreal Preference Dark Brown and Loreal Preference Dark Ash Brown to get it back looking normal again, but am getting different advice from their colorists. Does anybody know the main difference between the 2 colors? What does the ash do? I wanted to get rid of any evidence of this ugly red color! but am unsure which to use cause I did not want to make anymore mistakes! Thank you for any advice :)

Ash is a green to green/violet based color (pigment). When a color says Warm Brown, it means it contains a certain amount of red/orange pigment in the mixture. When it says Ash Brown, it contains a certain amount of green or green/violet in the mixture. When the two are mixed together at equal proportions (one ounce of each color mixed with 2 ounces of peroxide), then one base color will counter-act the other base color leaving you with a "natural" pigment rather than one that is too red or one that is too green.
