How bout lazer removal?
Listen I'm hairy too and I used to be so...Blah because I felt like I was so ugly just because of hair..but I've just grown to..accept me ....I know some people that WANT hair so we're lucky when you think about it. Being hairy is beautiful and natural! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

babygirl, I too am a very hairy person. I am quite embarrased also because I am only 28 but I have had this problem ever since I was alittle girl and have been picked on by kids and adults alike. I tried electrolysis a few years ago and ,unless it has changed, it only made my hair grow back worse and thicker. And it was painful. I have just got to the point where I have to realize this is me but it anyone has tried the laser treatment I would like to know how it was and what the results were. Oh I also took spiro a few years ago and my hair growth decreased signifacantly. I am seriously thinking about going back on that. So that may be an option for you. Hope this helps.

From what I have heard, the laser treatment is VERY expensive and it doesn't stop the hair growth. It makes it lighter, but it will still be there.

I was really hairy at one point in my life, dark curly hair,2-3 hairs coming out of every hair follicle, waxing ,shaving,etc...nothing seemed to work for me.Then I saw a friend in yoga who always seemed to be hair free, she had the lasering done months before and voila..no hair.Anyway ,I had it done quite awhile ago and no hair has come back.I did have to go 3 times for it to work,my hair was VERY coarse and strong, and in reply to the last poster ,it can be expensive. If you do your homework on lasering you will find it works best on lighter skinned(olive,etc..),dark haired individuals and I'm sure there are better lasers now than a year or so ago.Even though it was expensive(about $3000Canadian,entire legs ,bikini line, toes .... 3 times each),I have not had to deal with a razor for a long time and even if i have to get a touch up....which from the looks of things won't be for a long time,it was the best thing I could have done for myself. When I think about how much time I wasted shaving ,waxing, scrubbing buffing, tweezing, and squeezing and the scars...and all the money I spent on products....and the fact that time is money.......and much much more .How could I not afford to get this done ???Now when my boyfriend .wants to go to the beach,I just put on a bikini and go....when I decide what to wear for the day I never think "will my legs look alright ?" That is priceless!!!Good luck in your quest for hairlessness!!!!!

See an electrologist. I just had a ton of black hair removed from my torso, and it was only $40. The procedure isn't painful, either...unless you're a whimp.

When I talked to a pro about this, they said they only did 16 follicles at once, so I'd have to go back many times. Did you have all 70 removed at once?

Hey,Babygurl relax.... you don't have to do anything(lasers),and you should not until you know exactly what it involves. There are so many places to get laser hair removal done.First off, there are dermatologists who work with lasers(I had mine done with one),there are plastic surgeons working with them also.I"m not %100 sure about this but I think that if a esthetician takes a small course on laser hair removal, they can do the procedure.(?)Obviously you would thoroughly check the credentials and licensing of any medical practitioner before you have a procedure done, right, so do the same with this .Talk to people who have had it done ,really arm yourself with the facts about laser hair removal...your doctor can give you information, have a few consultations with laser hair removal practitioners ,shop around, and there is always the internet for info.As for your question about how much hair would be gone,I cannot answer that because I believe the treatment affects people differently, also it takes usually a few times to work completely.I had it done 3 times, but I had 3 hairs growing in each hair follicle. Another thought I had is hormone imbalance, too much testoterone can cause excess hair growth in females, but this is a tricky thing to diagnose properly, you would want see a specialist .Don't dispair ,if hairyness is your main worry( not to downplay the importance or validity of your feelings, etc...) I think you are well ahead in the running.Good luck!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

Hi to all,

I have had soft-laser hair removal this summer.
I paid $550.00 for the "full beard" area and have a treatment (about 1 hr) once a month for a year.

I had a moustache that I was shaving each morning and then tweezing chin, jawline, neck and sideburns each evening. Some nights me and my 5x lighted mirror work on my hairy face for an hour or more.

First Treatment-- was about as painful as a mild sunburn- the laser zaps (burns) the hair shaft and that 1-second stings like rubber band zapped. The upper lip area was painful but the jawline and rest was easy to get through. I had 40-50% hair loss after the first treatment. I ws thrilled !!!! for the first time in years I did NOT HAVE run to bathroom when I woke up for quick shave my upper lip---

Have had 4 treatments now and am almost hairless--

It works best on dark hair and coarse hair---
Hey, I almost had Hilter type moustache afer a day of not shaving it so I was a prime candiate.

I wish it had been around 10-15 yrs ago when I first started getting hairy.

I would recommend this for any hair removal.

and Good luck to all

Agree w/ laser for large areas (legs, arms) and very coarse hair areas (bikini, deeper bikini, underarms). Find the best laser for you (look up websites www.hairtell.com (http://www.hairtell.com) is one). And then follow up w/ electrolysis. With a great practitioner you can have excellent, excellent results. Good luck and go for it. Make it a new hobby. : )

I wouldnt recommend electrolsyis I have heard that it is costly and does't work. All I can say is if its on your legs just shave or try that veet? it keeps hair off for 3 weeks. the butt thing i dont know about that.

i know its imbarrassing but have u spoken to your doctor about ur hairyness im sure u must have a hormone imbalance or something like that and i think the doctor can give u something to sort it out like the pill

i dont know about laser but i do know that electroylsis is one of the treatments that 100 % works and has been approved by who ever and i know them twezzer electroylsis is 100% does NOT work

Ugh, I'm really hairy, too. I have it on my stomach, back, bikini line, inner thighs near bikini line, butt, butt crack.. lol I think I have hair everywhere except for the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet. I am so embarassed by this problem and I spend way too much shaving/waxing/plucking.. etc!!! It sucks. I am on birth control.. don't bother w/ that b/c it makes no difference..

I need more info on dianette. It's just a pill and it makes u less hairy?

I am 18. I have no money for electrolysis or laser hair removal. I need something cheaper.. help!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

My body hair is in no way as bad as some posters describe their hair problem, but i have had electrolysis and if the person doing the procedure know what they are doing it is 100% successful. I know for a fact b/c i'm one happy customer. However, i have have had electrolysis done many years ago and it made no difference, but that was b/c the person doing it wasn't doing it right. Your best option is to trust word of mouth.

Hey there..
Well, I don't know about body hair but for any female that is out there with facial hair ....
I have a cream prescribed to me from my doctor, it is calle Vaniqa. You apply twice a day and it is suppose to reduce your facial hair. Only problem is that insurance doesn't pay for it.
I recently went back to my doctor for other reasons and she told me she wanted to try me on a pill to reduce facial hair. Insurance does pay for this.
It is called Spironolactone and it is actually a water/blood pressure pill but is known to reduce female facial hair.
I've only been a week that I hae been on it. You do have to drink plenty of fluid and make sure your potasium is ok. If you drink Orange juice and eat a bananna it will help. It will make you pee alot too!
Any one else out there that has used this pill????
Let us know..
Thanks!
