Hi, I have naturally wavy, frizzy, fly-away-y, hair. It's in long layers, a little bit past my shoulder, and I have a couple that are supposed to frame the face. But whenever I blow dry it out it gets this rough nasty texture...eww! And it get's all weird in the back, like I'll brush it out, and it'll be kinda nice for like half a minute then it gets all nappy or whatever again.
My hair smell's burnt and...yucky, when it's dry, and like a wet dog when it's wet, like when I'm in the shower.
I've looked all over and haven't found any help!!! There's gotta be something I can do about it!!! Please, I'm so sick and tired of worrying about how my hair smells!!!!!!!
P.S. I thought it might be from blowdrying, but the last 2 months or so I haven't blowdryed it out that much, and it still smells!!! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

Ok first, what shampoo are you using on your hair? Second, when you wash your hair are you washing your scalp? Make sure you wash not only the hair but your scalp as well, I had something similar happen to me, and i changed my shampoo the one i was using didn't get as sudsy as its suppose to. Also what kind of hair dryer are you using? That also can be the cause of it, it your hair is smelling burnt, it might be the rotors in your hairdryer, i would just buy a new one and change your shampoo see if it works.

Like puckerupxox said, Make sure that you are washing your hair and scalp. Try different kinds of shampoos and conditioners. I don't see though were blow drying it would have an affect on the smell, but then again I don't know. Have you had a recent perm or dyed your hair? After a perm for 1-2 days your hair smells burnt and like dog because of the solutions. I hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for the replies, and sorry for not replying sooner!! The shampoo I'm using right now is Dove Intense Moisture and the conditioner is Pantene Pro-V smooth and sleek (finishing it up, I was using it along with the smooth and sleek shampoo before). Yes I am washing my scalp. I've tried many different shampoos, Dove, Suave, Pantene, Aussie, and probably others. ***What shampoo are you using now puckerup??? *** Blowdryer=It's black w/ a purple lint trap thingy, and it says VS Sassoon on it.
About the blowdrying-I thought maybe I was burning my hair or something. Nope, I haven't had a recent perm or blowdryed my hair.
I got my hair trimmed last night and she used Biolage shampoo and some other stuff, and since it'd been washed and all I wore it again today and it smelled good I think, but when I was outside and when it started to get hotter inside I got more of the old smell and a little of the Biolage.
Thanks again!

This might sound a little out there, but maybe it's a deficiency in your body which is causing the smell to your hair, like you are lacking minerals or vitamins? Do you take a mineral vitamin supplement daily? Try that and see if it helps and good luck to you.

I am sure it's the blowdrying, because my hair smells "burnt" quite often too and I heat style my hair almost every single day (blow dryer and straightening iron). It makes perfect sense that when using heat you'd smell a burning smell! I find that for me personally, Herbal Essences shampoo/conditioner for Dry/Damaged hair (or the Intensive Blends one) have a strong long-lasting smell.

Hey 3tBear, no it doesn't sound out there at all!!! I read a posting on another site about that and I was wondering the same thing too, I should start again, and maybe different ones too. Thanks!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Hey just_imagine thanks!! And thanks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for the recommendation!!!!! I've been trying to find someone whos hair smells burnt and who actually found a product that leaves a good smell too. I think I will go out and get one of those products you mentioned soon! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif (Which one do you prefer??) Have you found any styling products that leave a good smell too??? I had other questions but they got erased and I can't remember them...I think part of what I do is I dry my hair and I don't get some parts all the way dry, and so I go back and try to get them, but I get the parts that are already dry and uhh...yeah..not good. Anyways, thanks again! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey! No problem! I hope that if you try them they'll actually work http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif So far I've been using Herbal Essences shampoo for Dry/Damaged Hair along with the Herbal Essence Intensive Blends Conditioning Balm for Dry/Damaged Hair. If I don't feel like using the heavy balm after every shampoo, once a week maybe I'll use the regular H.E. Dry/Damaged conditioner. I find the smell of it sticks around for two days usually - sometimes it varies how much smell is leftover depending on how much hair product I use and how long I left the conditioner in, how much I used, etcetera. My hair is quite dry from years of colouring, sun damage and heat styling damage. It's also quite long, straight down my back it is at my bra hook level.
Before I blow-dry/straighten, I use Straight Sexy Hair Power Straight serum, which doesn't smell all that nice (just kind of like...your typical salon product) and I think that takes away from the H.E. smell. But I can't find a straightening serum that works better, so I won't switch! Wish I could though!

Hey! Your hair sounds exactly like mine...aghh its frustrating isn't it? I've tamed mine as much as I can, and my system is working pretty well right now...I'm using the Matrix line (bright orange bottles, you can get it at hair salons) and it is AWESOME! It doesn't smell to shampoo-ey but its not fruity or anything....I am using the shampoo, conditioner, hair creme before I blow dry, and spray if my hair is extra-crazy. I wash it twice with the shampoo (every couple days though, i use something lighter for shampoo becuase sometimes all that heavy moisturizing leaves it yucky), then leave the conditioner in for a couple of minutes, and rinse. Then I put the creme on my hair after I towel dry a little, and blow dry. Next is straightening...my flat iron is awesome!! I've got all my frizzy-hair friends (and mom) using this kind too, its called Revlon Perfect Heat. I've gotten one at Wal-mart...it's white and a couple of inches wide, with gold plates. It has 25 settings, so it gets extremely hot...which is great!! Then I use either the Matrix spray to keep it straight, or Herbal Essences light hairspray if my hair smells burned at all, or if I skip a day washing my hair (which I usually can't, but when I do...) If you don't like hairspray, you could always use a light Bath & Body works body spray on it...I think some scents actually have hair freshener upper, that might work even better.

Hey guyz thanks so much!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif So just_imagine, if you leave the conditioner on longer does the smell last longer?? I *still* haven't gotten any yet!!
Hey iLuVyou (<lol I didn't get that right did I? Does the straightener you use make your hair dry and stuff? Thank you!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
