My grandson has gotten lice and my daughter has used RID twice now with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any non-chemical ways to get rid of these nightmares?

an email was sent to me with different health/beauty techniques to try at home and lice was one of them. I read that mayonnaise will kill lice and also condition your hair. Give it a try and tell me if this actually works.

Good luck,

I have had head lice when I went to a really bad school. My grandma would make me lean over the tub with a wash cloth on my face and she would slowly and gently poor gasoline over my head. Yes I know, VERY dangerous and very scary, but it worked. I would sit for 15 minutes, after the time was up I would rise for about 5 then wash my hair and the lice was gone. I know its crazy and uncommon but I never got it again.

I will pass these on to my daughter. Thank you.

A coworker of mine told me that she bought "Tea Tree Oil" and added some of it to their regular shampoo. Lice don't like this oil, so it worked for them.
Her son kept getting it from school.

Well let me tell ya I have had those too (I've had everything).....I tried everything....and the two remedies that do not involve terrible chemicals....one is to take cider vinegar and cayenne pepper....(very very careful not to get in eyes) mix together and put on hair until soaked...then put on a shower cap and leave on until it dries out...this will suffocate any of the living lice (you might have to do this more than once). then take a nit comb (found at the drug store) and thouroughly comb through all hair to get out the eggs. also you might wait a week and redo the whole procedure to make sur no new eggs have hatched.

Another sort of but not so natural method is rubbing alchohol....and do the exact same thing as I mentioned above.....this one did the trick....no problems. you could even use grain alchohol....I used this with dreadlocks and couldn't even brush out the eggs.....but they never rehatched!!!!.....thank god I've never got them again!

Also as a preventative....putting a drop or two of tea tree oil or eucalyptus, lavender or citronella or any of them combined for a better smell, on the nape of your neck, hairline and behind the ears, you can even take a little rub your hands all over your head....will keep them away if you are travelling or camping even school children....although they might get made fun of for the smell! But during an outbreak at school better safe than sorry!!!!
