I have several broken blood vessles on each cheek. They are very small, but noticeable thin red cracked lines. I am assuming they are from years of heavy drinking (although I am only 32 and I have seen heavier older drinkers with none), but not certain. I saw a derm. and he said I had rosacea, but the redness in the checks is down, but the blood vessels are not going away, nor do I expect them to. Is there anything I can do? Cover-ups, medication or surgery, or do I have this forever?

Hi- Alcohol can cause rosacea to flare up- it's a trigger. Broken blood vessels occur with rosacea that's a little more advanced. A good coverstick can cover it up. I've heard something about laser surgery being good to remove the appearance of broken blood vessels. Check with your doctor to be sure.

I have the same thing. They are broken capillaries. My dermatologist treated them with a hot electric needle (ouchy). She "jabbed" each little vein and this was supposed to "seal" the vein. I went three times six weeks apart and it took that many times for them to go away. That was about 3 years ago and they are now starting to come back. I have thin skin -- not a big drinker, don't smoke. I think some people are just more prone to this. I think laser would take care of it too. Also I have heard Vitamin K. Mine are not too bad right now. I'll wait until foundation can't cover them, then have the procedure done again. Good luck.
