I just started taking biotin,I also heard it was good for hair growth. I have also been taking gnc ultranorishair,it has everthing in it that promotes hair growth. But I take extra biotin. keep me posted, let's see if our hair grows!!!!!

I have taken Biotin for a while now and I can tell you it will definitely help your hair and nails. I got it more for my nails as they are so thin and brittle. It has helped make them stronger and grow more quickly. I think it pretty much does the same for hair. I take Biotin Forte 5mg which is pretty much the highest you can get in a single dose. It is about twice as much as the amount you are taking. 5mg=5000mcg. A lot of vitamins contain biotin, but you need to take anywhere from 2-5mg (2000-5000mcg) to really start noticing a difference.

Thank you for answering my question,I will add it up to see how much Iam really taking. I want to start off slow anyway. I have read on other post that it makes you hair thicker, not give it any growh. I must say I have noticed that a little,my hairdresser even mentioned it. :D

I use a supplement for skin, hair and nails. I but it on one of the shopping networks. Works great. I had thinning hair and after seeing a dermatologist now use Rogaine. THAT had fixed that thinning problem. Things are great now. My hair was always thick. Back to normal now. :)

do you think biotin will help with my hairloss? I am 20 years old and am starting to recede and thin...

My dermatologist says Biotin will help hair grow faster. Will not bring back hair that is lost. DHT will make hair get thinner and then stop growing over time. Rogaine will block that. I sound like a commercial, but I have used Rogaine after seeing my Derm. for 3 months. My hair grew back! It is wonderful. You shed the old hairs for a few weeks, then new hair grows in. See your doc and ask if it would help you. The earlier the better. Good luck!!!

thanks, what I don't like about Rogaine/Minox however is that once you start you can't stop. also its a bit tough and annoying to apply it in the morning and at night. thanks for the help though. im still searching for the best product(s) to use to stop this before it gets to bad! thanks again!

You also have to brush your teeth and take a bath and clean the house, etc etc, every day. Rogaine is no trouble for me, it is WELL worth the time and money. I have thick hair again. I also take vits, but they help with hair growth, not with hair that has fallen out. That is what my dermatologist said. Good luck to you!!

[Yes, I agree with doing something before it gets bad. I did that. The earlier, the better results.

lol, good points. what I meant however is that you have to wait a certain amount of hours after applying rogaine/minox before washing it out. that was what really got annoying. also I really didn't like the way it left my hair with a "greasy" kind of look and feel.

anyhow, I am trying this new thing called Procerin. It's supposed to be an all-natural DHT blocker so I'll see how that goes before moving on to something else. It really sucks losing hair when you're so young!!

thanks for the input! :)

Yesterday I saw a famous dermatologist @ the Cleveland Clinc which took me along time to get in. She recommended "biotin forte 3". It is 2000mg of Biotin but she thinks the zinc that is in it is very helpful too. I have also used the rogaine 5 % for years. I told her that I don't use it in the AM because it was too greasy, she said that she recommends once nightly for her paitents. I also take a prescriptin drug called aldactone which helps block the testerone. She said to continue that and it she was glad that my hometown dermatologist had had me on it for a while. I am a female, so I am not sure about the aldactone in males. I hope this info helps someone
PS... she said that in about 2 yrs their will be a foam that is comming out to repalce rogaine and it looks very promising.

You can get it at any health food or vitamin store. Vitamin Outlet/Better Health Store, GNC, etc.
