I recently read a post about using cold pressed castor oil and baking soda...I have 4 large moles on my face, each the size of a pencil eraser....the Dr. wanted $1000.00 to remove...I decided the oil & soda method would be cheaper!!! and thought I would give it a try. I made a thick paste and applied it to my moles and covered them with a round bandage.....it has honestly been a miracle...within 3 weeks my moles have disintigrated and are almost 95% gone. I have been putting the mixture on ever night. The first week the moles swelled(I almost stopped due to fear)but continued on. The second week the moles started wiping away (itchy and some bleeding)now the smallest one is completly gone and the other 3 almost...I figure it took 40 years to grow them...I can be patient waiting for them to go....the mixture does sting....small price to pay...and they look unsightly right now, but I cover them with makeup...and I fully expect the skin to scab and then clear up with minimal scaring.

How do you tell whether castor oil is cold-pressed or not? I tried just using castor oil (no baking soda) per some website instructions on my moles with very little if any result. I want to try the mix but need to make sure I'm using the right kind of castor oil. My little bottle doesn't seem to say one way or the other.

it says cold pressed, cold processed right on the bottle...you need to get it at a health food/vitamin store...I pour a little onto a spoon...then sprinkle on the baking soda...mix with a q-tip...and keep adding soda a little at a time until it has a thick texture.
I read that about just castor oil online also...I personally think it was wrong...you need to do the mix.

There's an herbal product called Bio-T (available on the net) that works great. I just used it on a mole and it took about 8 days for the mole to fall off, now there's a 'crater' that is rapidly healing. It will most likely leave a scar of some sort though, so I would not recommend using it on your face. Of course, whenever a mole is removed by any method (even by a doctor) it can leave a scar, so you really have to be careful about removing scars on your face. You have to decide which is worse, the mole or a scar.

cactus... is there a scar where the smallest one was? and are your flat or raised?

cactusqty

All my moles are were raised, big and brown. 1 month later they are flat and white...the mixture did leave a crater (as mentioned in the previous post)but it healed over. I was also worried about scaring...because yes, this is my face...but I have been very patient not to pick at the drying skin and scabs that formed. If you can afford to have them professionally removed I would persue that....this was something I could afford and I have been happy with the results...I would rather have a small white scar easily covered with make up, instead of big unsightly moles...oh, FYI, I have very fair skin.

cactusqty

Oh...what is Bio-T?
Is it that similar to a remover where you scrape your mole with a needle and apply a topical cream that makes the mole fall off? If so, I researched that and read some testimonies that left me to conclude I did not want to use that.
If any one has had success with that let us know.

As I mentioned, I used Bio-T and it worked very well. Others here on this board have also used it with success. It takes anywhere from 6-10 days for the mole to fall off. You don't have to scrape the mole, just apply the ointment once a day and cover with a bandaid. The entire mole will fall off in one piece, and won't ever grow back. Now I'm using it on a skin tag, which should be even faster to remove than the mole. You get enough ointment in the jar to remove several moles or skin tags. It also removes warts, which DO need to be scraped first because of their tough outer skin. I would probably have tried the castor oil treatment if I had known about it.

CACTUS........
sorry.. but did your say that you think having them professionally removed would be a better choice than trying the oil and baking soda method? I want mine gone. I don't want big craters . And would not mind if they were FLAT. but the older I get the bigger and higher they get. I feel like I have M&M's on my face. I will pay to have them removed if I can find a method that will leave minimal scarring.

oceandreams

The craters don't remain craters, they fill in with skin tissue as they heal. But the resulting scar will depend on many things such as how fast they heal and your skin type, how easily you scar, etc. The scar may end up being flat and white, or it may end up being slightly raised (keloid type). If the moles are on your face, I would definitely go to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon for best results. If you have insurance, most companies will pay for mole removal since there is always a chance that they might be cancerous.

Where do you get Bio-T?
I have been going to the same dermatologist for 5 years. My moles are not the cancerous type...that is why I did the home remedy removal...and yes...the 'craters' fill in...all I am saying is that if you can get it done cost effectivly...just have it done....then it is over with.
I am interested in this Bio-T...because I have plenty of moles.

You can get Bio-T on the net from the company that makes it--just do a search for it. But if the castor oil treatment is working for you, why change? (just curious) We could compare notes on what kind of scars we end up with, using the different methods. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif My 'crater' has completely filled in now, so I started putting vitamin E oil on it, I read that it helps minimize scarring if you use it while a wound is healing, we'll see...

Buzz,
If your insurance covers it, I would have them removed by a doctor. Not only will the scar be smaller, but they can analyze them. I just had a few removed because they were ugly and then the results came back that two were pre-cancerous!! Pfew. So, I think it's better to have them checked by a doctor.

Buzz'z honey2

CS 67......
what method did they use to remove yours? I have read many ways of removing them. Some ( I don't remember which) say leaves more scarring than others. and alot of people have said the scar was worse than the mole. ooohhhh...what to do, what to do.....

I did a Bio-T on google...did not find it. I would switch if it was faster...otherwise, I have been perfectly happy with the castor oil/baking soda method.
I agree with cs67 on the cancer screening...but I trust my dermatologist as he is the top in his field in our city.
I use vitamin E too Ocean. Also, stay out of the sun for awhile util they are fully healed...I only say that because I am in a southern climate.

does the Bio-T work on unraised moles? Anyone else used this stuff?

oceandreams
10-21-2003, 10:17 PM
As long as it's a mole, skin tag, or wart, Bio-T will work on it. But you might end up with quite a scar because some of those flat moles actually grow very deep into the skin. If it's on your face, I would leave it alone, or let a doctor deal with it.

A little update...all the moles are off my face now using the cold pressed, cold processed castor oil/baking soda mix. I removed 4 by this method....2 look great...you would never know I had moles there (one I have had for 30 years...so it is wierd to have it gone)...the other 2 wiped away flat originally, but are now slightly raised white bumps (for 3 weeks now, and not growing)...they look ok though...way better than the huge brown moles that were once there...and I just dab a little make up on them and they are almost unnoticable.

How long do you leave the bandage on? Just overnight? Or do you have to leave them on all day during the first week.

Did you cover with make-up during this time?

I would like to try this because my insurance doesn't cover this - they consider it cosmetic (since I don't have a family history of cancer and I don't spend a lot of time outdoors in the sun and because everyone on my mother's side of the family has them) and I can't afford it on my own. I am just really nervous about trying this.

Hi wldncrzy....
I applied the paste every night at bed, covered with the bandage overnight and removed it every morning....wiping the mole with some rubbing alcohol. I did this for a 3 week period...as I wrote above..the first week the moles reddened and were swollen..then the second week things really started to take effect...honestly...it did not look the greatest..but I covered them with make up during the day and lived through it : )

Update....One week ago I started using Bio-T on a small raised mole I have on my arm...probably about 2x's the size of the head of a pin. I thought I would start with something like that just to see how it would go first. This is how it has gone so far....Day 2 - slight pinking around mole....Day 3 - yellow ring appears around the mole along with more pink/red....Days 4 to 7 - white 'ball' appears. So far this how it has gone. I will keep you updated.

Hi there! Cactus... Maybe you can help me with what I'm doing wrong? I've tried the cold pressed castor oil/baking soda mixture for a few months (consistantly) with no sucess... My slightly raised mole is smack dab on my cheek bone, using the mix at bedtime did turn it red & swollen, and dried and had some peeling...but that was it, it just stayed big and red. Unfortunately my face also became swollen and irritated from the bandaide I put on it (a round non latex kind). I had to stop the treatments as my face was looking kinda nasty and I wasn't getting any dates!! (me and my flaming red mole just weren't attractive I guess!) http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif You mentioned that you used rubbing alcohol to wipe the mixture off in the mornings, is there any other fine details I'm missing? Did you rub the mix into your mole for a bit before you placed the bandaide on (as I did)?
Has anyone tried Bio-T to a mole on their face? they don't recommend it on their site due to scarring, but just wondered.
I really appreciate any tips you or others have cactus. Surgery just isn't an option...as the plastic surgeon told me it will leave a scar perhaps bigger than the mole itself. My mom had her mole 'excised' (cut out) as well and it has left a large white scar on her face. Thanks for reading!!! Take care!!

hey guys im new this board but i would just like to let yall know that getting moles removed profesionally is not always guaranteed to leave a smaller scar...i had one removed on the outside of my upper thigh about two years ago. the doctor had to cut it out of my leg because it was flat sorta so it went deeper in the skin. well it was double stitched like stitches on the inside and on the outside and it ended up getting infected and stuff and now i am left with a HUGE scar! it is a huge oval that in length is about as long as a quarter 1/2 placed next to each other and the height or width is about a diameter of a quarter. it has definitely lightened with time but it used to be like a purple/dark red color and now it is a light pink with a darker pink/purple around the edge w/ a thick line through the center which is a darker almost purple color...i was so p*ssed with the way it turned out because the doctor told me that w/in 6-8 months about it would just be a small white line which it definitely is not...i now refuse to go back to him. i really hate the scar i am so self concious about it and its not like winter helps any because i am on the swim team at my school......i also had a mole on the fron of my thigh/ hip area removed by a common shaving technique which has worked on a couple of my other moles and somethin went wrong b/c i ended up with a raised circle 2-3 times larger than the mole which was flat that is purple/pink in color...ugh!! sometimes i really hate the doctors...both of these moles i didnt even want to get removed but i was forced against my free will b/c they were benign or whatever...but now i totally hate wearing bathing suits and i am totally self consious in them...it really sucks

scarletmist, the infection of the area where your mole was taken out is probably the reason it scarred badly. have you considered that this may be your fault? if a wound is not properly kept clean it will become infected.

I had a possibly cancerous mole removed from my chest about this time last year.. I was very dissapointed with the scar... you can still see the stitch marks because apparently they left them in too long... I was told to wait a year and if I wasn't happy with it, i could look into revision. I made an appointment to get it looked at next week.. Hopefully the surgeon will be able to do something about it.

I looked into using Bio-T on some other moles I have... but it sounds kinda shady to me....

is there anything they can do with lasers to take the color out of moles?

JoshuaJoshua
10-28-2003, 12:01 PM
The lasers can completely eliminate the mole permanently without stiches or scars. It burns it off and in about a week the scab just falls off. I think it beats getting plastic surgery since that causes scars and it's certainly a wiser choice than any home remedies. Plus it's very affordable at a few hundred dollars.

d.dion,

Did you clean the mole really well with soap and hot water (then thorougly dry it) before you put the Bio-T on it? And it needs to be cleaned like that each day, then new ointment applied. Someone here suggested gently scraping the top of the mole, just in case the skin is particularly tough and impenetrable.

10-28-2003, 10:06 PM
JoshuaJoshua..... as far as having the mole biopsied... isnt this a concern when you have it lasered off?

InnocentCat
10-29-2003, 01:22 AM
I have also read.....and I did this myself when I used Bio-T....is to make sure that you don't apply it with anything metal or use a Curad type bandage. It can interfere with the effiveness of Bio-T

oceandreams

That's right, I forgot about the bandaids. I was using a 3M bandaid, then read the label which said it contained 'natural rubber latex'. You have to make sure the bandaid does not contain rubber.

Hey tater tot! Sorry so long in answering...I also have a raised mole right on my cheekbone too!...yes, as mentioned there are some pitfalls...I too had the bandage circle around the mole...looked like a target http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gifBut I covered it with concealer and powder during the day. Just remember, it is a process....it takes awhile...it took 3 weeks for each mole to start to go completly away....and I did mention it looks pretty nasty in the meantime....but after the mole is gone use straight vitamin E from the capsule over the area...it will speed recovery...just don't stop midway....I almost did because it looked awful...but I stuck with it...and now the moles are gone!

That is so odd. I have used it on a mole and 2 skin tags, and each time it started working around the end of the 2nd day (mole began to swell and turn red). Haven't got the new stuff yet. If you just got it recently then, maybe you got some of the same old batch I got. I am still applying it every time the same day and there may be some results, not sure yet. Did you try scratching, peeling back a tiny layer of skin and then applying it? Well, I have emailed the company on this weekend (I expect a response from them on Monday sometime). Update: The mole I have been working on for weeks now has turned into what looks like a big ugly pimple, dried up and a good portion of it just fell off. It was a flat mole and for some reason there is still a raised section which is a little darker than my skin. NOT attractive, but hopefully it will go away. I am actually not sure when to stop applying BIO-T to this mole and begin the healing process. I may apply it for a nother few days. And I am on to the next mole to see how that goes.

Tater Tot,

The makers of Bio-T don't recommend using it on your face, and I have to agree with them. My skin reacted strongly to the removal process by turning bright red (and I do mean Bright Red) all around the mole. The reddened area is now a brown color, and fading very slowly. The bandaids also caused irritation and left red marks (now brown). It all looked pretty ugly, and the spot where the mole fell off is most likely going to leave some type of scar (it's still in the healing process so I don't know how it will finally end up looking). I would NOT have been happy had this been on my face (my moles were under my arms, so it doesn't matter). You just never know how your skin will react, and you could end up with a bad scar or discoloration. Your best bet for facial moles is to see a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Tater: No, it wasn't on my face but I have one there I was planning on doing if some others I had were removed to my liking. I decided to quit applying the stuff to my original test mole today for a few reasons, 1. a piece did fall out, however there is still a reddish-brown spot where the mole was. I hope it fades! 2. I have been using elastoplast bandages and I don't know what happened, but I am getting a servere rash from them. It just started. I did not have this rash for the first two weeks they have been stuck on my arm though.

Day 2 of applying the Bio-T (still the possibly outdated stuff, but worth a try) on my second test mole showed a tiny bit of blackening and reddening of the mole. However, the rash is slowly starting on that arm too. I may go look for different bandages later.

To any people doubting, this stuff definately does something. To what extent the scarring is, I'm not sure. My first mole is still not pretty as I said, but hopefully time will heal it.

The skin can take a long time to completley heal (several months) and get its natural color back again. When I had some moles removed at my doctor's office, I remember it took a long time for the skin to get back to normal, and I now have white scars where the moles were.

D. Dion, the bandaids irritated my skin real bad too. I think it's the pulling them off everyday that causes so much irritation. I started placing them in slightly different spots each time, and using different sizes. A lot of people are allergic to latex so you might try getting some gauze and paper tape, which is hyopallergenic.

All in all, I think it's a lot easier to just go to the doctor and have these darn moles removed ! (if you have insurance to pay for it)

I have been following the progress everyone is having with Bio-T. I am also using it on a raised mole on my neck. This is the 14th day of use and no results yet. I have started using a gauze bandage to cover it to see if this may help. I have had no luck finding regular band-aides that they say to use. I have emailed the company about this and they are sending a new supply of Bio-T to me. Since the bandages are the main issue I think the company should supply you with atleast a 10 to 12 day supply of the correct kind. I can not find the brand that was mentioned here. What other kinds are there that have no rubber or latex in them?

oceandreams
11-13-2003, 09:00 PM
okiegranny,

Any brand of bandaids will do, as long as it does NOT say "contains rubber latex" on the package (it's the rubber that inhibits the effectiveness). I used Johnson & Johnson, and Eckerd brands. I know that both Curad and 3M brands contain rubber, so avoid those. Or you could use gauze pads and cloth or paper tape.

It sounds like several of you got an 'old' batch of Bio-T, because it should start working within the first 3 days or so. I never knew it would get old and not work anymore. Luckily, the company is coming through on their guarantee.

Tonight, I bought some gauze and paper tape to try out instead of these infernal elastoplast bandages. I just put it on so hopefully it will work. Also, to all whom this stuff didn't work for, did you try scratching the skin up a bit to let the Bio-T penetrate? I did it right away on my second mole and I think I am already seeing results.

Thanks oceandreams for your advice. I did go to a plastic surgeon and he said that the scar would be bigger than my actual mole, so since then I've been looking for alternate means...or continue to live with my mole. The bio-t does sound like it would be a hazardly approach to a mole on such a visible area as my face. I'm going to re-try the cator oil and baking soda method again with less irritating bandages...I'm just not sure when I'll start...cause I'm dating again and not so sure what he'll think of an inflamed red mole smack dab on my face!! :) Thanks again...and everyone keep posting follow ups/advice, it's great!!

Just keeping the thread alive. My second mole has turned into an ugly pimple like the first and I am just waiting on it to dry and fall out (hopefully the whole thing). I am still convinced the Bio-T didn't get all of my first mole as there is still some brown. I'm not sure what to do, see if it will fade or apply Bio-T again to it.

I am still waiting for the new container of Bio-T. I put some water in this old batch to thin it. I don't know what is going on with this mole. It is turning a very ugly color and is very sore. It has bled a few times I have cleaned it. Is this normal for a mole to act this way? Is it dying or what? It had better do something because I can not go out in public with it uncovered. Looks like I have a gorged tick stuck to my neck!!!So very gross. What should I do, just keep putting this stuff on it?

Keep sticking with it. It's been 3 weeks since I started putting mine on, and I think that I am almost there. The mole has turn black and is drying up. Probably will fall off in a couple more days. At that point the healing process can begin. Mine also bled at one point when I took the bandage off (I think that it ripped at it). But that was only once.

Also, I have noticed that my original batch has really dried up. Not sure if it is OK to add more water or what. Anyways, I just started using the new stuff today. Hopefully it will work quicker -- but I have my doubts. Well, so long as it eventually works I suppose.

Yep, mine looked like a gorged tick also - really horrible looking. It's definitely working, the mole is dying. Be very gentle when cleaning it to avoid bleeding. I stopped applying the Bio-T after about 6 days, and the mole continued to die then fell off on about the 10th day. It might take longer since you said it took awhile to start working, as you evidently got a weak batch of ointment. I kept applying it until the mole started to turn dark and shrink, then I removed the bandage and let it dry. It should fall off a few days after that.

It's fine to add a little water to it, it does seem to dry up quickly in the container.

JoAnn

Yes, definately keep putting it on until something falls off. I don't think going halfways with this stuff is good enough as I said before I may still have part of a mole on my arm because I quit too soon. (or maybe because it was the old stuff I used)
My containter of old stuff is very dry too, I'm surprised others have the same problem. I'd like to see if thinning it out does anything. I'm thinking if you thin it out, use distilled water as Bio-T is supposedly so sensitive to metals, the metal in tap water may kill its effectiveness

I received the new ointment in the mail, in fact they sent me two of them. There is alot of difference in the new and the old ointment. I start putting the new on my mole yesterday. My mole is killing me! It is so sore and it throbs. Woke me up last night when I turned over on my right side. Pillow touches it on my right side. Is this normal, I mean the pain? It still looks so bad. I want it gone! It is a gray black color now. Do I keep putting the stuff on it or let it air out some?

D.Dion

Okiegranny: I think the pain is probably normal. It is after all, a mole dying. Me personally haven't felt much of any kind of pain from either my old jar or the replacement. You are lucky to have gotten two jars! I only got one. Keep us updated.

okiegranny,

My mole hurt a lot for a few days before it fell off (mine was a pretty big mole). If it's black now you should be able to stop using the ointment, as the mole is probably just about finished and should fall off in a couple days or so. I know you'll be glad to be rid of it! Try taking some tylenol before you go to bed for the pain, that really helps.

Ok, I am really getting concerned about this mole! The scab is ALOT larger than the mole was. It is now black with a whitish ring around it. Also it is red and hard out from it. If and when the scab comes off it will leave a scar a lot larger than the mole ever was!!! Could it be infected by chance? Still terribly sore and scary looking. I did not put any ointment on it today and let it air dry. My family grossed out from seeing it. Is what I am decribing sound normal?

oceandreams
11-25-2003, 05:09 PM
okiegranny,

If the mole is still looking bad and you're worried about infection, start cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and apply an antibiotic cream (that's what I did, as my mole got really ugly looking too, but it never was actually infected, it just looked that way.) The white ring means the skin is pulling away from the mole, so it should be falling off soon. You could contact the company and describe to them how it's looking, they would be able to tell you if that's normal.

Just an updat on THIS DARN MOLE!!! The ugly scab is still with me and doesn't look ready to fall off at all. Don't know how long this will last. I am not putting the Bio-T on it anymore since it is scabbed over. Still kinda runny fron under it. Not as red around it though. I just hope the mole is gone after this scab comes off! I still cover it when I'm out in public because of the way it looks but let it air dry at home. As of right now I don't know if I would go through this ordeal again. When the directions say up to 12 days and this is going on now a month, a little bit of difference. This was not a hugh mole either. just a raised one that bugged me. I emailed the Bio-T company this past week discribing the way it is looking, no response back from them.

Yes. I've been using it on 2 raised moles that grow hairs. I've been doing this for about 2 1/2 weeks, and so far so good! One is about 60% gone and the other about 20%. Good luck!

I finally heard from the place that sells Bio-T. From what they said my discription of what is going is normal. The scab is shrinking but still very thick.
I read above that one mole is 60% gone. What does one look like when it is 60% gone? Does part of it fall off or something? Why didn't mine do this? I really expected my mole to dry up and just fall off. I never expected this thing to mutate!!! I am not using the ointment on it but using peroxide on it. It is also itching a lot which is probably a good sign. What does the Bio-T do to normal skin, anything?

D.Dion

Bio-T themselves say that the ointment does nothing to normal skin. I guess you just need patience. I am antsy too about one of mine. I have a raised mole on my arm I'm doing right now and I hope that this mole will be totally removed and not half left like my other two.

Yeah, the one that is 60% gone has been kinda falling apart. It's now almost skin level one one side and the other side still raised, but not as much as before. So far it has mostly broken up and I was able to just wipe away layers of the mole.

I have a Question!!!

When I make the mixture with castor oil and baking soda, and apply it to the mole, how much of the mole should I cover?

Should I put enough on so it just about covers the mole, or should I cover it a bit more by putting the mixture on some of the surrounding skin?

Also, when I put on the mixture, I'm gonna cover it with a bandaid. How long can I keep it in this state then?

Yea!!!!! My scab fell off!!!! Now all that is there is a scar which I hope will fill in. I am going to put Vit.K and Vit.E on it. It is pink all around it so I know it will take time to fill in and get it's normal color back. How long will it take for the scar to fill in? Mine is pretty good size so will probably take along time. I am just glad it's gone!!!

Mine filled in pretty quickly, within a few days. Now I have a flat, pink scar, which is fading out nicely. I've been rubbing olive oil on it everyday and vit. E when I can remember. I expect the scar to eventually end up being white and larger than the mole itself was. The moles I had removed at the doctor's office years ago left white scars that were somewhat larger than the moles had been.

I just finished treating 2 skin tags with Bio-T. One fell off in 3 days (!!), the other took 6 days. The stuff seems to work really fast for me. I guess it varies from person to person (or maybe I got a really 'fresh' batch of ointment).

I'm a bit sceptical that such innocent ingredients like baking soda and castor oil can remove moles, but what the hell I'm trying it anyway!

Couldn't find anything that said cold-pressed, none of the labels went into specifics. The one I bought is "for internal and external use".

How long does it take to feel the irritation? I started the treatment yesterday. The things I'm working on are pink lump-type things a few mm's across, not fully raised but not flat either. On my legs, arms and torso. I'm doing 8 of them in one go.

My castor oil/baking soda treatment is going well so far. It's day 5 and half of the moles are puffing up and the skin is reddening around them.

If Tater Tot is still around - perhaps you should keep the mixture on 24 hours instead of just overnight. That's what I'm doing. I take the band-aids off before I go into the shower, let the water wash the paste off, and when I get out I rub them with rubbing alcohol then reapply and put another band-aid on.

Good luck to all!

To the Castor Oil+BakingSoda/Bio-T users, have you used it anywhere where hair grows?! Does the resulting scar prevent hair growth? I'm looking to get a mole removed from my face and although I don't mind a little white scar, I would mind the no hair growing where the scar is. I've had stiches twice from sports injuries on my face and although the scars are just under my chin (hidden), no hair grows on them so I figured if I can get a mole removed via incision I'd have the kind of scar that doesn't let facial hair grow over. So I thought I'd look into this first even though it probably isn't recommended for facial use... I have a very nice face, I want to be very cautious while tampering with it =)
Raised moles only get bigger with age and although its not unslightly now it could someday become that.

Yep I'm still around chinchilla!! Always reading to see how everyones progress is going. Good to hear about yours. I wondered when I read that you couldn't find the cold pressed castor oil, which I've heard of others finding it difficult to find from Australia. In any reports I've read it's the cold-pressed kind that works best, but it sounds like you're getting results. Wearing it for 24 hrs might work way better, sadly my mole is on my face and I go to a lot of meetings in the community so having a scary bandaide on my upper cheek might look bad...but I may still have to try it. I plan on starting it again after I the Christmas parties. I'm going to practise on another mole though, and will try your 24hr suggestion. Thanks and good luck!! Keep us posted! :)

Update on me: almost 3 weeks into the castor oil treatment, give or take a couple of days where I couldn't reapply fresh mixture.

All my moles have puffed up into blisters with red wrinkly skin around them. Some of them have become itchy and sting. However only 2 out of 8 have progressed from the blister stage. Those 2 have popped and are crusty scabs but seem to puff up again to the original mole size when wet.

I'm still sceptical but who knows, it might work.

No pain no gain they say?!?!? !@%!$@!
I'm on day 4 of the cold pressed castor oil and baking soda mix on a slightly raised mole on my torso. It's turned stark white and the skin around it has turned real red most likely from the 'mix' irritating the skin too, not to mention the bandaide marks I'm getting! I'm keeping it applied 24hrs and changing bandaide a few times a day with a fresh mix. Definately a good idea to have different bandainde sizes and apply them at different angles each time so the same spots on your skin aren't being irritated. I'm adding vit E to those spots. Oh, I lightly sanded my mole with a pumise pad on the 1st day of this whole routine. Already, it's totally different than when I tried this mix on a mole on my face where it just got red and swollen...I'm optimistic this time! (fingers crossed) I feel your pain people!!

chinchilla, Try treating only one or two moles at a time. You might be overburdening your immune system response by trying to get rid of so many moles at once. Your body will be able to handle it a lot better, and it should therefore work better. This theory is based on what the company that makes the Bio-T treatment says, which according to them, it's your immune system that kills off the mole, not the actual ointment. They recommend treating only one mole at a time.

Just a suggestion, good luck.

I've had my moles removed. It was not done by this method that all of you guys are talking about- the baking soda and castor oil. I had mine done by like this weird carving thing that I did in this place. To say the least, the moles were gone but it left scars. Well, I'm not too sure what to think. I did the castor oil / baking soda on a facial mole for 5 weeks. What I have now is a pinkish / skincolored, slighty raised bump where the mole was. I'm not sure if I should continue treating it or let it go awhile and see what it looks like. I really don't like it being left as a bump! It's directly under my nose and looks almost a ugly as the mole did! I guess I can just continue the treatment... but does anyone know if there is like some kind of maximum time limit on how long you should use it? I don't want to overuse the stuff and have it stop working.

Lisajh and Okiegranny, your results could still just be part of the healing process? Maybe you should wait a while to see what happens. But it must be disappointing to find that there's still something there especially after all the effort you went to, I would be disappointed myself.

I've decided that if the treatment doesn't work I'm going to bite the bullet and get the moles lasered off!

Ok here's the gross update. I have no idea when to stop the castor oil/baking soda process either but I've read a few posts where it turned into a scab - ugh - and fallen off. So, that leads me to my progress... I'm on day 12 and for about 4 days now I've been adding vitamin E straight from the capsule onto the mole and the surrounding puffy irritated skin and leaving the bandaide off of it. I decided to do this because the mole was white and the skin around the mole was looking greusome! All puffed up, irritated, red and hurting/itchy! It's now all scabbed over the mole and skin around it and now starting to peel off (told you this was gross). Who knows if the mole will be underneath or not. Think I'm just gonna leave it now and let it dry up and off and just put vit E on the spots that have peeled. Can't believe I'm typing all this...eeewwww. From the looks of it so far, the mole definately looks like it's shrunk...but I'll wait and report back when I see the final results. Good luck to all the other persistant people trying this!

Hi Tater Tot, that's great news! Good luck with the one on your face.

I, unfortunately, do not have the same excellent results to report. Most of the scabs have come off, only to reveal the exact same mole underneath. All moles escaped totally unscathed and are in perfect health thank you very much.

Looks like I'd better save some cashola - laser treatment awaits!

This is what seems to have happened to me with Bio-T. It would redden and scab up and then it would fall off in due time, only to show the mole still hiding underneath!!! I have since quit using Bio-T, but I am going to give it a go on one of the previously tested moles that were not removed. I realize you used the castor oil method, but I can assume the chemical effects are not that different

Anyone tried removing moles with garlic? I've read that moles can be removed in 3 days by placing garlic over the mole.

Wow! Really, just garlic? Sounds pretty interesting! Do you just place a small piece of garlic over the mole with a bandaid or something? I'd like to hear more about this method. If anyone knows more, please tell!!

You know I tried the castor oil/baking soda process in the summer for almost 3 months on a mole on my face and it didn't work, but now trying it again on a mole on my torso it worked in less than 2 wks...go figure? Perhaps it's the mole that makes the difference. The only thing that I did different this time is before I started the treatments I roughened up the area with a pumise pad (like the one you use on your feet) and I kept the mix on for 24 hrs as opposed to just overnight (24hrs meaning changed it 2-3 times a day when I thought about it) Chinchilla...our castor oil that we used were different too. That's really all I can think of. I've heard of but never tried the garlic, let us know how it goes if anyone tries it. Peace and Cheers to all!!

Oh what about find-cures search that online, it has a 'mole remedy' product but they don't tell you WHAT is in it or HOW it works.

Yes I think it is normal, 777, that happened to me.

I've decided I'll try it again but just on one mole at a time. Like Oceandreams pointed out, maybe I overloaded my immune system. It definitely did something dramatic to my skin - just not quite dramatic enough. I'll do what you did Tater Tot and reapply several times a day. What type of mole was the one on your chest?

D.Dion, perhaps your Bio-T was one of the old batches? Good luck.

I'm very interested to hear about this garlic! Who would've thought? Please keep filling us in.

I have a few questions for those of you who used the castor oil method...so if you have spare time, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeez answer them. THANX!

1) How long did the whole process take for you? (from the day you first applied the castor oil to the day when most of the healing finished)

2) What kind of castor oil did you use, and did you mix baking powder with it?

3) After you applied the castor oil, but before the mole fell off, did it irritate the surrounding skin? Did the surrounding skin turn really red?

4) How much castor oil did you apply onto the mole everyday?

5) Where was your mole located, and did it result in scarring?

6) If it did scar, how bad is the scar, and how long did it take for the scar to fade out so that it wasn't that noticible?

7) Would you recommend others to use castor oil to remove moles? How about facial moles?

8) What kind of mole(s) did you remove? (flat, or not flat)

9) Would you rather have the resulting scar from the castor oil, or the original mole?

10) Was the process painful?

11) Would Neosporin help the scarring to be less noticible? (after the mole fell off)

12) Before the mole fell off (while it was dying) was the redness in your skin very noticible to others?

13) How big was/were the mole(s) that you removed?

14) Do flat moles pose a larger chance of scarring?

Thanks again! I'm planning on trying the castor oil soon. I'll keep you guys posted

I think I made a mistake. My mole had turned white and it was drying up, but I still continued to apply castor oil and baking soda so that layers of skin started to peel off. Now it has stopped working and the mole is still there and it's not even dry anymore. Maybe I should have stopped applying castor oil earlier and just let it dry up and drop off?

Hi guys...I am going to try the Castor oil/baking soda method to remove a few moles. I'm a newbie at this method, so anything you tell me will help! I would appreciate if you could just tell me what to do, and what to expect. I have baking soda at home, and I'm going out to buy the cold-pressed Castor oil! Does anyone recommend any brands? Thanks for all your help!

I haven't tried it myself but I've read through this thread so I'll reply with what other people have written.

1) How long did the whole process take for you? (from the day you first applied the castor oil to the day when most of the healing finished)

With the castor oil I think most people said they were applying it for a week or two. Probably best to just make your own judgement.

2) What kind of castor oil did you use, and did you mix baking powder with it?

Cold Pressed ,Cold Processed Castor oil specifically. It has to be on the label. It won't work unless you mix it into a PASTE with baking soda. Note that its baking SODA, not baking powder.

3) After you applied the castor oil, but before the mole fell off, did it irritate the surrounding skin? Did the surrounding skin turn really red?

It'll make it very red, irriate I'm not certain but you're killing off skin so I'd imagine it wouldn't be comfortable. You'll have to wear a bandaid over it. It'll likely be unsightly until it falls off because its trying out and detaching from the skin around it.

4) How much castor oil did you apply onto the mole everyday?

If its like Bio-T you over it with a thin layer making sure not to get any on the surrounding skin.

5) Where was your mole located, and did it result in scarring?

Will result in scarring. Some have slightly raised while bump, some flat circles where the mole was (it'd be the diameter of the mole). A few have reported no resulting scars.

6) If it did scar, how bad is the scar, and how long did it take for the scar to fade out so that it wasn't that noticible?

Scar would probably be less worse than having an incision removal. For some maybe the scar was equal to the mole but I can't imagine things being worse off than when you started. Healing for scars takes 6months to a year I think. Depends how you treat it.

7) Would you recommend others to use castor oil to remove moles? How about facial moles?

can't answer that. Facial moles though you'll have to put up with alot of noticable reddness on your face for a few weeks, with the risk of this not working too because its a home remedy.

8) What kind of mole(s) did you remove? (flat, or not flat)

Flat ones run deep and will be harder to remove and likely leave a bigger crater. Most people say this is best for raised moles.

9) Would you rather have the resulting scar from the castor oil, or the original mole?

can't answer that, haven't tried it.

10) Was the process painful?

don't know but I'd imagine it'd be irrated a bit, not horribly painful though.

11) Would Neosporin help the scarring to be less noticible? (after the mole fell off)

jojoba oil and vitamine E I hear would work the best.

12) Before the mole fell off (while it was dying) was the redness in your skin very noticible to others?

It would be, people have reported that being a problem for facial mole removal

13) How big was/were the mole(s) that you removed?

haven't tried

14) Do flat moles pose a larger chance of scarring?

yes,

For those who HAVE tried it, feel free to correct me. I'm just going off of what I've read.

Aahhh I'm back from eating too much over the holidays!
Ok I have all my supplies infront of me: I used 1. Arm & Hamer baking soda (I went out and bought a fresh box and didn't use any I had sitting around for cooking purposes), 2. The Palma Christi Pure, Cold Pressed Castor Oil, 3. Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, 4. Vitamin E capsules
I poured a small amount of the castor oil into a tiny tupperware container and sprinkled the baking soda into it and mixed it with a toothpick until it made a paste like texture, kinda gummy but more runny. I just kept the mix in this container sealed with the lid and would add more ingredients when needed (usually aded more once a day to keep things fresh). I then lightly rubbed just the mole with the pumise foot pad (I only did this once to begin the process) and then lightly rubbed in the 'mix' to the mole. I then gobbed on some more mix and placed a bandaide over it. From then on I kept the mix on for 24 hrs and probably changed the bandaide and added new mix about 3 times a day. The bandaide became too sore to change that many times in a day however and sometimes I just lifted the pad part and with my toothpick added the mix without taking the bandaide off, but still changed the bandaide at least once a day. (deep breath)
Once I removed the bandaide I cleaned the mole and skin area with rubbing alcohol, let it dry and then added new mix. My mole was slightly raised, light brown in colour and not as big as an eraser end of a pencil.
Day 4 - mole turned white, skin around the mole red/itchy/swollen, I added Vit E to the marks that the bandaide was leaving which worked well
Day 5 or 6 - I started to add Vit E to the surrounding skin and the 'mix' to the mole (of course it runs onto the skin, but as best as I could)
Day 8 or 9 - because my skin around the mole became so inflamed and was raised well over the mole (which was still white) I stopped treatment and just added Vit E to the area and left bandaide off entirely.
Day 10? - mole and skin area began to scab over.
Day 12 - scab started falling off
Day 13 - I helped the scab come off (I was impatient) and the mole was gone!! Skin pinkish red and where the mole had been there was a slightly raised area to the touch.
Day 20 - 1 wk after mole gone - I've been applying Vit E out of the capsule to the area and skin has turned a lighter pink and where the mole had been it's a tad darker pink and I can feel a tiny little raised area but can't see it.
I'm pleased, and if this were on my face it could easily be tolerated and covered.
Hope this helped... :) Good luck and be patient!

I wouldn't recommend using rubbing alcohol because it irritates and dries out the skin and can delay healing. I would recommend using a saline solution (salt water) instead. I'm only using plain tap water to clean my mole.

...and how's that workin for ya 777?

I actually had just followed the advice of cactusqt who had a sucessful mole removal with this process and who used rubbing alcohol. Worked for me too! I guess the idea is to dry things up and of course care should be used. Right now I'm on Day 3 of the castor oil/baking soda treatment to a mole on my face, and using a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to finish the cleaning process(meaning after I've washed the mole and area) and applying it to just the mole.

Chinchilla...how's your process going? Anyone else have any updates? I'd like to know how the scars are fading on anyone whos tried this or the Bio-t.

Cheers!!

Hi all. I am in the final stages of RE-applying Bio-T to a mole I have previously done. It was a mole that had reddened and scabbed over, but when the scab came off, there was still most of the mole there. I decided to give the stuff a go again. I pumiced the area really good this time in hopes that would make a difference. It got red and scabbed up much faster this time. We'll see if it is gone for good. I sure hope so.

I'm not sure on the shelf life. It does dry out quite quickly so I do add a few ML's of water when needed. I was supposedly sent an aged jar at first so it must go bad, but I figure it would give you a few months to use it up before it goes.

I remember when I first read about Bio-T on this board, the person describing how to use it said you should scrape or scrub the top of the mole first so the ointment can penetrate. Since it didn't mention anything about this in the instructions from the company, I didn't do it and still had good results, but I guess it must work much better if you do scrape the mole first.

Congratulations, D.Dion, glad to hear it finally worked for you!

It works, although I'm using normal laxative castor oil... it's the castor oil/baking soda mix that is supposed to dry things up... if you use rubbing alcohol it might break the skin and cause scaring.

Just my 2 euro cents.

Not sure if anyone is interested :)...but I thought I'd post my progress. Today is day 9 of the castor oil/baking soda process and my mole's gone through the typical nasty stages...that and the skin around it! Even though the mole's on my face I've only spent 2 days covering it with makeup for work purposes and the rest of the days and nights I have kept the mix on my face and cut a bandaide down to size. Yah I look a tad freakish with a bandaide smack dab on my cheek...but I have to be persistant and know that it will be temporary.(so I tell myself!)
Ok so...I've noticed that the mole tends to scab over when left without mix on it for a while which is good but I want to make sure I've done it long enough to get the whole mole and not just have parts fall off. Yesterday it was like that as I left the mix off in the day and the mole looks shrivelled and down considerably in size but I've continued the treatment and plan to for a few more days before I leave it to dry entirely...just as I did with the mole on my torso.
I've also been applying jojoba oil & vit E to the surrounding skin when I can and letting it absorb.
Anyone have any updates? How's the process going for those using the regular castor oil? Hope all is well!
Take care!

Hi Tater Tot! Thanks for asking about me! Been very busy lately

I'm going to start on *one mole only* today. It's on my forearm and is pink and slightly raised. Since I don't often wear clothes that expose all the other moles, that one is the top priority. If that doesn't work then I'll get some real castor oil, and if THAT doesn't work then I'm doing the laser treatment. I did a web search and found that a company in my state makes real castor oil but I'll give what I've got a go first.

Best of luck with your facial mole Tater Tot! I hope it all works out perfectly for you! And good luck to everyone else.

Day 13 for me...and my mole's in one of the familiar nasty stages of being hard/red/shrivelled/scabbing/bleeding slightly/shall I go on?? It's definately drying out and I've decided that tomorrow will be my last day of applying the castor oil mix and then I'm going to let it be and see what happens. I went longer applying the mix this time than I did with the mole on my torso due to this mole being larger on my face. It's funny how after a while I don't care if people see this cut down bandage on my face...as long as it's temporary. If you get the round transparent bandaides and cut the sides down you can only see the little square pad. The skin around the mole I removed with this method on my torso is still pink and fading nicely. Where the mole was remains a pink tiny bump felt to the touch and doesn't appear to be growing... woohoo!
Candy...I don't know about the imbedded moles, mine were slightly raised.
Jbishop...I haven't read about any moles looking worse once they're gone when using the castor oil/baking soda, but I guarantee they will look nasty while you're doing the process. I'm sure the area will stay red for a good while after too from all the irritation but hopefully with time and some tlc this will fade.
Best of luck...to you too chinchilla, I'll be cheering for ya!!

Do any of you actually have moles you want to keep? I have had this one mole on my cheek/face--it is smaller than a pencil eraser and I actually like it. It is part of my character. :) If I had really huge ones I would certainly consider removal. I am considering removal of skin tabs though. Does Bio-T or castor oil work on those???...these are on my neck. Thanks!!!

Yeah, I actually have about 15 or so on my face all togeather, although many of them are sightly larger than freckels most are on one side of my face, which looks kind of odd.. but I would feel more comfortable if the larger ones were gone. I think moles have become more accepted my society on the past years, but it is not for other people as much as it is for my own comfort.
And I do think Bio-t does remove skin tags. Good luck!

Ok here's my kinda semi-sorta not so exciting mole update! :) It's actually officially a full 2 wks now since starting this and the scab fell off to reveal half a mole!! It's flattened considerably and it looks like the top half of the mole has been kinda sliced off and gone...it's soo much flatter than it was when normal. So now that the scab is gone I'm starting the mix to the remaining part of the mole. I guess it makes sense to me?? because the scab was so thick, hard and covered the entire area maybe the 'mix' wasn't able to penetrate it fully. Who knows!! but I'm optimistic as it's definately shrinking it and with less irritation than I had on the other mole I used castor oil/baking soda on. We shall see...I'm a patient woman but the constant questions about "what's the bandaide for on your face" gets old! I think I'll start tellin them I got in a fight! hehee!!

It's only been 2 days since I've reported my last update...but wanted to do so again as it's pretty significant!! I've since applied the mix 24 hrs a day for 2 days to the 'half' mole...and it is now not there! I'm in disbelief how the rest of the mole could go so quickly but the proof is on my face! I guess with the mole being open after half of it came off ...it probably didn't have much further to go. Maybe more fell off than I had thought but it's hard to tell when the skin becomes swollen/irritated. I'm now stopping the treatment and will wait for the skin to 'un-swell' to see what happens then. I'm just in awe! Too bad we can't post pics. Where the mole was is a tiny flat white blisterish looking piece of skin. I'm sure it will probably scab over. Again, we shall see! (hope this is helpful to someone!) Otherwise I'm a nuisance! :)

Thanks DDion!! :)

Yes candy, bicarbonate of soda is the same thing as baking soda. You don't need to heat up the castor oil, I used it cold. I think the process I took is pretty much all typed out on these message boards. The only thing I can emphasize is the pumicing of your mole (yah it will hurt a bit) and when you are applying the rubbing alcohol just dip a q-tip into the alcohol and apply it to just your mole that way (I did this in the beginning and then after about the 1st wk I did it about every 2-3 days). It's gonna get sore and it's gonna get ugly...but right now after having done all of that my face looks great! Still scabbed in a tiny area (waiting for it to peel off)...and everyone can't believe where my mole went! I'm happy! Good luck!

I have had at least a dozen little moles removed from my face. They were cut off by my dermatologist.
Some left some scarring, some didn't.
I HATE my moles! Mine pretty much look like little freckles, but they are spread out all over my face, so they don't look like the cute little freckles all in one batch, like the sun-kissed look.
I am looking to remove the rest by laser, and have been told it cost about
$200-400 an area.
I am always on the lookout for home remedies.

Just remember when removing moles on your face that most of the home remedies will most likely leave a scar, and you will have little or no control over the scarring process. The scars could end up looking worse than the moles. It may be expensive to have the moles removed by a plastic surgeon, but at least the scarring will probably be minimal.

Everybody says that during the castor oil/baking soda treatment, that the mole and the surrounding skin looks really bad. How bad does it really look? Worse than a pimple? How much of the surrounding skin turns red, and does it turn red, swell up, or both? Thanks!

Tater Tot
02-06-2004, 04:18 PM
Yeah chinchilla!! Good news!! Best of luck!!

Epz...to be honest with you and I don't mean to be crude but by doing this treatment the area looks like a mini nipple. Yep! I said nipple!
The surrounding skin gets red/pink and tender and eventually swells/puffs up and the mole looks like... well, you get the picture. Eventually the skin puffs up to about the same height as the mole was...and the mole may turn lots of different colours including white/blisterish. I think everyone may find something different, but I've done this 2 times now and it's been pretty consistant. Nasty is a good word to describe how it looks...it looks infected. On larger moles you may have to do the process a few times and when it scabs over...let it fall off and start applying the mix again as I did to the one on my face. The problem isn't just the mix and getting it on surrounding skin that causes all this, but it's the bandage too. It plays a number on your face and helps it become swollen and irritated. Fortunately the skin on my face healed what seemed 100 times quicker than the skin on my torso. Your skin and mole will itch, sting, turn red, may bleed, peel, puff, ooze...sound lovely? Fortunately it's just a localized area around the mole that does this. Worth it to me? anyday!! Just don't go text book on it (not that there is a darn text book written on this!!)...be consistant with the application of the mix but when you think it's too tender and the skin is too puffy...start adding vit c to the skin around it (not on the mole), etc or give it a night to air out with no bandaide. The trouble that I found is that I didn't know when to stop. If you stop and think it's gone and it's not after the scab comes off...you need to start it up again. Eventually after doing this...mine just flattened right out. Like it dried it right off my face.
Best of luck!

Will the castor oil/baking soda method work without the baking soda? After you apply the castor oil onto the mole, do u have to rub it in or just leave it a glob? Do you have to wear the band-aid?
Thanx!

Darnit... I just replied with a truckload of a response but it didn't post ggrrr. So I'll start again with the short version.

Epz...read page 26 on what I wrote on this thread, that should help you with most of your questions. I read through what others did and what worked when I started the process and it definately helped.
I've tried the castor oil without the baking soda consistantly for a couple months with no results. As far as the bandaide question? It's up to you really, the bandaide just keeps the mix in place as the mix tends to run a bit. At night I would sometimes go without the bandage to let my mole air out and found that in the morning the mix was barely on my mole and usually somewhere else. I cut down a small round bandage to fit my mole and tried to cut it so that I left the least amount of sticky tape that would secure the bandage in place, I found that caused less irritation.

Candy...I know what you're saying. Kinda funny to picture but hey it's worth giving it a try! Whatever works for you. I think that either way the mix will get onto the skin plus you want to make sure that the mix gets to ALL of the mole.

I'm no expert...I just sort of invented as I went along. You will too!

Just wanted to post and say that I hope everyone is coming along fine. I, for one, am not exactly satisfied with my Bio-T jars. They definately did not give me the results I was hoping for and instead turns a few moles into ugly half moles and such. I seem to be the first with the problem. So because I could not find cold pressed castor oil around town, I instead chose to have the mole burned with nitrogen. I hopoe I can finally be happy.
The castor oil idea, I would still like to try on other moles though.

Hi everyone, I've been using the proper castor oil for a couple of weeks now and I don't think I've had any success again. It's puffed up as usual and formed an even bigger blister than with my previous treatment (actually made up of about 10 tiny blisters and one or two large ones) but the skin has started to peel off and I can see that the mole is still there, the pesky ba*tard. Nevertheless, I applied it again anyway when I got out of the shower yesterday. I'm not going to give up that easily!

I have been quite lazy with it though, I've been very busy with my work and often will start work straight after getting up instead of having a shower, so the mix will often stay on the area for a couple of days in a row without changing it.

You know, I really think that getting the area wet regularly is the key. It causes the area to sog up which opens the wound up somewhat, so it's more likely the mixture will get right to the source and not just to the crust that's formed on top of it.

Actually I think it worked! The area is scabbed up and I'm not able to peel it off yet but it seems the mole has flattened out. Before when I used normal castor oil the scab was raised just like the mole underneath. Promising!

I'm also going to buy some Wartner to kill the skin tags which seem to have popped up all over my neck over the past couple of years.

Anyone else still using any mole treatments?

Im a little skeptical as to the effectivness of non surgical mole removal, but i have ordered a product supposed to work, being from the uk im not sure where to go or what price removing a mole would cost, i would much rather have the surgery than to walk around with a huge red puffed face ( the mole is on my chin so it a little awkward ), so is there anyone from the uk who paid to have one removed, and how, was it lasered, frozen or scalpeled ?

Waaayyy to go chinchilla!! Just remember that you may have to continue with the treatment once the scab falls off if the mole isn't fully gone or flattened out to your liking. Fingers crossed though that it's all gone! Finally eh!

Do you think this mixture would work on skin tags also???

Hey Tater! After all that to-ing and fro-ing with my latest adventure - after I peeled off the scab I found the mole was still there. BUT I'm happy to report it did shrink it somewhat and I'll start a new treatment soon. I didn't use the pumice on it like you did, I'm pretty sqeamish about that idea! Ouch! How are your scars healing? Any signs of regrowth? That's what I'm worried about, that they'll grow back.

And concerned_mom, if it can work on moles I can almost guarantee it will work on skin tags. Give it a try! Good luck!

Hey Phoenix, IMHO laser is your best option. Scalpel and you're looking at a scar, particularly if you're not getting a plastic surgeon to do it. A plastic surgeon would be the best place for lasering too. You don't want to take any risks with your face. Freezing I doubt would work on larger moles and will definitely not work on flat moles. From what I've read it seems that it will set you back a couple of hundred dollars, maybe pounds will be cheaper.

Well, it has been forever that I have been on this site...sorry. I read over the posts...here is my update. I removed the 4 moles on my face (all raised, one resembled a huge pencil eraser size fleshy skin tag...the others were raised, and solid, meaning you couldn't wiggle them) with the cold pressed, cold processed castor oil and baking soda paste mixture last September. I read that many people could not find this oil...it is in health food stores...the other castor oil does not have the same components needed. I applied the paste each night, and covered the area with a non latex round band aid. I never saved the paste, as I read one post did. I always made, and used it fresh. If I was home for the day. I kept it on all day. As I previously posted it took awhile, and I was worried as it took it's course to complete....first the moles swelled, turned red, looked infected, looked like opened wounds..then scabbed (I applied vitamin E from the capsule). It has been 6 months now. The fleshy mole was most successful...completly gone...my friends and family are totally amazed...the other 3 are gone...but not forgotten...they are small raised white bumps, with a little red around them...but I can cover them with makeup, and they are in no way the obvious big brown moles I once had...so, am I satisfied...yes, VERY SATISFIED with my results...when I look at old pictures I am amazed....this home remedy really worked.

Laser takes about 6 or more months before the skin goes back to normal, it'll take probably 2 months to heal the initial burn, and then the rest is just the redness subsiding. I had it a go, took them a treatement and a touch up, and even then it didn't get it all, not very effective for the price in my opinion. Still made an improvement, but not the couple hundred dollars worth of an improvement I was hoping for.

Good news chinchilla...way to go!
As for scars? I don't have any from the treatment. My face never scarred at all where the mole was...it's just flat skin now. The skin on my torso around the mole stayed pink for quite some time but now it's all even flesh tone and where the mole was it's stayed a darker pink colour, like a freckle. I know what you mean about pumicing the mole...sounds a bit barbaric but I was gentle as I gritted my teeth. :D

Hi Cactus,

I've always wondered how your treatments have gone after all these months -
