Hello,

My name is Paris. I am 14 years old. I live in Georgia and go to an advanced program at a school across the county. I have never been a morning person and used to sleep a good amount of the night, but since middle school(the last 4 years) I've slept about 3 or 4 hours a night. Especially this year, since I have to wake up at 4:40 to get to the bus stop on time (6:00). And since I don't get home FROM the bus till almost 6:00pm you can see how I usually stay up late just to fit some extra social/hw time in there.

Anyway, so for the past 4 months of this year I've gotten anywhere from no sleep to 5 hours of sleep a night-usually about 4 hours of sleep on average. But now in the last 2 weeks all of a sudden I'll have like sleep spells. 2 Nights ago I got an hour of sleep and didn't feel tired at all. Then last night I went to the movies and felt energized and normal. I dropped the kid I picked up with me off and got into the car and 10 minutes later I felt like i was about to fall asleep. I barely stayed awake long enough to get home and go upstairs to "take a nap" (it was 6:30ish--we didn't have school because of a snow day yesterday so I got to go to the movies instead) and fell asleep in my clothes and didnt wake up till almost 9 am this morning. And this past Monday I had a similar thing happen where I about fell asleep after I got home from school and went to sleep at 6:45 and woke up at 10:00 am the next morning. (no school the day i woke up either because of a snow day also). I could understand if this was the first month I was doing these little staying up most the night kinda things, but it's been going on for years-Why would it catch up with me now?

Please help. Thank you very very much,
Paris

It could be catching up with you, or hormones, etc. If you continue to sleep a lot, I would check yourself out with your family doctor just to make sure everything is okay.

Paris, did you say you were 14 years old and drive a car? You could have many different problems, Thyroid is just one. Joy is right go to the doctors and make a list of EVERY symtom you have. Even if you don't think it is a related one. Good luck, Kim
