I have EBV and my doctor thinks I have CFS. My family says that I have been snoring a lot lately which made me do some research. I am now exploring sleep apnea as a potential cause of my fatigue. I have awoken in the morning with very red eyes. The blood vessels are all red. Is this one of the possible signs of sleep apnea or just something else to worry about?

It is very possible that you may have sleep apnea. You should go talk to your physician about this as there are many different treatments for this.

I dont know much about this, but it is a condition, where you wake up very frequently during the night without knowing it. It causes sleepiness all day, you fall asleep everywhere, driving, in the office, standing up, etc...

Keep searching, I don't know much about it, and I could be wrong

I was diagnosed many years ago with CFS. 5 Years later an expert on CFS suggested I had Sleep apnea. The red eyes are problably from lack ok proper sleep.
Contact a Sleep study institute for a test.
I have been using a CPAP machine (Helps keep breathing passage open while sleeping) for over 6 years and get excellent sleep results.
p.s. My CFS vanished six months after I retired at 57 due to poor health, mostly fatigue and back problems
I am convinced that stress was a major factor to my fatigue. I hope you get a solution soon and not have to wait 10 years as I did.

My 2 1/2 yr. old has some form of sleep apnea. Her tonsils are huge!! They are kissing tonsils and have caused her many problems. I have observed her sleeping lately and find her gasping for air while snoring and then she stops snoring for several minutes, tosses and turns, and then repeats her behavior. I have gotten mixed signals from medical professionals. Pediatrician says take those tonsils out! One ENT says she is too young, wait a while. Another ENT says take them out! Another ENT says the only reason to take them out is if what I think is sleep apnea really is sleep apnea. Her tonsils have been lingering at 31/2-4 for severa months. She had tubes and adenoids surgery in October 2000 which put an end to her ear infections. However, she is on liquid albuterol, an inhaler, and tanafed decongestant/anahistamine twice a day. If I do not give her medication she developes an ear infection and tonsilitis. She used to be on this much medication before her surgery and still get horrible ear and throat infections. now it is manageable with medication...But is this good to have a two year old on so much medication and tired everyday from sleep restlessly? or do we take her tonsils out and hope that post operative problems are minimal with such a young child? My husband does not want to do surgery and I really want to get this surgery done immediately! what do I do?

JB - I'm 44 and I had chronic strep throat until I had my tonsils out, then never even a sore throat again. That was 10 years ago. I say get those tonsils out. It's much harder on an adult than a child, and even though my throat was very sore, there were not other complications to my surgery. Hope this helps.

That sounds like sleep apnea to me from what I've been reading. Does she actually stop breathing? If so - I'd be concerned. If your daughter is truly "suffering" in her sleep, you may want to find another doctor to see what they want to do. She is very young to later in life be suffering the physical consequences from long-term untreated apnea. Some of the side-effects could include hypertension and heart problems later in life.

I have huge tonsils and the doctors never wanted to remove them. Consequently I now snore and have breathing problems, along with strep throat and ear infections all the time.

Good luck!

I have sleep apnea and have to use a bi-pap. because the cpap will not let me exhale the carbon dioxide. This machine has two levels of air and is great. The only time I wake up now in the night is if nature calls. I no longer have heart problem symptoms, or sleepy eyes during the day. it is a must to get rid of the carbon dioxide, for it poisons your system and cause all kinds of health problems that if they take test for will come out negative, but yet you will be sick. Take a sleep test to find out which is needed. I was stopping breathing for 37 times an hour and my oxigen was going down to 62% each time. You cannot hold your breath that long. So do get checked out, sleep apnea is a killer.
